[Dubstep/Drum & Bass] Never Say Die Records – The Division Series Part 2 EP

A few weeks back we featured the first installment of SKisM’s The Division Series EP released on Never Say Die Records. The premise behind the project is that over the next six months four individual EPs will be released alongside a twenty-minute mix from SKisM himself which ultimately will all coalesce to create one monstrous EP with four original tracks and a host of remixes from some of the biggest names in the electronic music scene.

Today, SKisM released The Division Series Part 2, which features his new track “Red Heat”.  “Red Heat” is a truly unique track with respect to his tune “Killer”, the single from The Division Series Part 1, emphasizing that each EP will represent the different ideas, tempos, and styles of music SKisM produces. The EP also boasts a refreshing drum and bass remix from none other than, TC.  The best part of all, SKisM is giving away “Red Heat” as a free download via his Facebook page, so make sure to show this dubstep legend some love and snag your free copy of the release.

Last but not least, make sure to download and listen to the 20-minute mix featured alongside the EP. The mix will seamlessly blend with the mix from the first installment (which can be found here if you missed it the first time) displaying SKisM’s outstanding mixing ability and prowess behind the decks.

[Drumstep] Missy Elliott – Get Ur Freak On (Skullee Remix)

After tremendous success with The Cookbook in 2005 Missy Elliott seemingly fell off the face of the planet and hasn’t been heard from since. It’s unfortunate considering the female rapper was a trailblazer in the hip-hop scene and shocked pop radio with hits like “Get Ur Freak On”. Thankfully Skullee swoops in and reminds us of how legendary Missy is but with the addition of heavy, raspy drums. Enjoy!

[Dubstep/Drum & Bass/Electro] Never Say Die Records – The Division Series Part 1 EP

Over the years, SKisM, Never Say Die Records heavyweight, has developed and maintained an inherent reputation for creating hard-hitting, heavy dubstep that so many bass music fanatics have grown to love. Despite releasing multiple beatport chart-topping tracks just within a few months, SKisM continues to push the pace with yet another release, The Division Series Part 1. The EP is, as many of you may have so cleverly guessed, the first installment of a four-part EP series to be released on Never Say Die Records over the next six months. Each part will contain one original tune by none other than SKisM himself, alongside several remixes from the likes of Zomboy, xKore, Dirtyloud, Tantrum Desire and many more. With the release of each installment, SKisM will also put out a 20-minute mix — meaning that by the end of the entire Division Series, fans will have a mammoth 80-minute mix in their possession.

The first installment features “Killer” by SKisM & DC Breaks, featuring Dee Freer on vocals. The original is an agressive dubstep tune that flaunts heavy wobbles and grinding synths, which masterfully weave in and out of Dee Freer’s vocals. Also featured on the EP is Tantrum Desire’s Drum and Bass version of the track. The track emphasizes a slightly lighter feel but quickly builds and drops into a well-developed and on-point drum and bass tune. The final track of the EP is a fresh electro remix by CRUSH. CRUSH is a relatively new face at the Never Say Die Record label, however his remix is nothing to sleep on. Slowing the original BPM down to 128, CRUSH brings a whole new identity to the track that truly is refreshing and unique.  You can purchase the EP directly from beatport or stream the tracks directly from Never Say Die Record’s Soundcloud.

[Drum and Bass] Krewella – Killin’ It (Dirtyphonics Remix)

Two days ago I saw Dirtyphonics open for Kaskade at the Freaks Of Nature tour at Bill Grahm Civic in San Francisco. This track was amongst a list of all out bangers that had everyone raging face. It starts off a little darker then the original with a unique intro, then building into the tweaked sexy vocals that Krewella is known so well for. The first drop takes you on a Drumstep infused thrill ride with squealing wobbles mixed with some vox and the original melody. “Killin’ It” was the first Krewella track I ever hear and this remix takes it on a hot and heavy ride to DNB heaven. Cheers.

I am killin it…..

SBTRKT – Gloss

The UK-based producer Aaron Jerome, aka SBTRKT, is truly in a league of his own. His debut, self-titled album spanned too many genres to count deconstructing sounds of dubstep, drum & bass and EDM in general to create an incredible glimpse into the future of music. On Gloss, the innovative artist builds a kind of peaceful noisiness embodying the progressiveness of his sound. The track was released with no info, but is hopefully a sign of a project in the works. A much needed musical boost to kick off the week…
