[Dubstep] Star Monster – Butterscotch Candy EP

If you’re ready to headbang, Star Monster will see you in the dojo now. The up and coming bass producer recently dropped his Butterscotch Candy EP as an independent release packed with four heavy heaters.

Butterscotch Candy shows of Star Monster’s gritty sound that he can take to a variety of styles. Although dubstep takes the lead, Star Monster switches things up throughout the project to give listeners an even more wild ride like with the drum & bass break in the title track. Overall this is a strong project from a producer that’s been steadily gaining traction over the past few years.

[Dubstep] RUVLO – Chaos EP

New York bass producer RUVLO has dropped his debut EP Chaos on Kannibalen Records. With three track RUVLO takes the next step in his career and further establishes himself as one of dubstep’s gems.

Chaos begins with the AfterMyFall featured “Chaos In The Confines” that is a hard-hitting headbanger hit. Next RUVLO takes the energy even further alongside CRANKDAT for the party anthem “Rage Cage” that is just as heavy as you think it is. Lastly RUVLO shines on his own with the weird and wonky “Giant Spider Invasion.” Overall it’s a strong debut that sets the stage for the next part of RUVLO’s burgeoning career.

[Dubstep] Brondo – Concrete Jungle LP

The bass jungle beast Brondo has graced 2022 with his second album Concrete Jungle. Released independently this 12-track project is a full on barrage of bass with several dubstep records and handful of records that see Brondo flex his creative abilities.

It’s not often you see dubstep albums, but Brondo’s second foray into LP territory is strong. Standouts on the album include “The King” and the house heater “Tonka” which may be our favorite song on the project. Brondo’s gritty distortion is on full display throughout the LP that is well worth the listen through.

[Dubstep/Trap] Kai Wachi – SKINS EP

Kai Wachi. That should be enough to get you interested, but if you need more convincing about one of dubstep’s finest you’ll be interested to find out about his astonishing 8-track SKINS EP on Kannibalen Records. Ever since his single “Run” his fans have dubbed his melodic, more emotional side as “Cry Wachi” and now the Boise beast has doubled down with his first fully fledged project exploring that side of his creatitivity.

For starters Kai Wachi enlists some truly phenomenal vocalists including RUNN, Lexi Norton, Nina Sung, SOUNDR, YMIR, Calivania and TeZATalks. Each bring their own unique flavor to a project that is a wild ride from start to finish. Most of the songs are standouts which showcases Kai Wachi’s hitmaking ability – one that blends musicality with ear-shattering distortion that nobody can seem to get enough of. His ability to develop a song from start to finish is masterful, while many producers sit by and copy/paste their drops. Kai Wachi has always been a producer to keep an eye on, but now he seems to be hitting a stride that can take him to the very top of the game.

[Dubstep] Birthdayy Partyy – The Summit

Birthdayy Partyy are usually known for their electro and bass house inspired records, but today they went all out dub. Other than a couple of previous dubstep records, we haven’t had much in this style from the Chicago twins and as of now we’re aching for more of it.

“The Summit” is an inspiring bass original that takes a melodic approach to the genre in a similar vein as Adventure Club and Fox Stevenson. By infusing more musical elements and not simply focusing on aggressive sound design, Birthdayy Partyy took “The Summit” as high as it could go. As always, this BP release has dropped as a free download for anyone who is holding out on streaming.
