[Pop/Synth-Wave] Coleman Hell – VENA EP

There’s nothing quite like a complete, polished, subduing and intoxicating release to soothe out our days here at TMN. Alas, Toronto based chameleon producer Coleman Hell has touched down with a debut extended play, VENA. A suffuse collection of warm, synth soaked pop gems, VENA lifts off with “Venezuela”; itself a low-end pushing, falsetto fueled anthem which more than establishes an air of sophisticated fluency and thought out instrumentation for the five track EP’s duration. Its sophomore entry, “Heat of the Night” may very well be the crown jewel of Coleman Hell’s debut opus. Hell’s breathy, raspy reverberations drive much of VENA, but his vocal work on “Heat of the Night” reaches its warm hand into our soul like only a lover could.

The EP’s midpoint, “Fortress” rides a hand plucked electric bassline, soulful incantations and clicky percussive elements to serve as the superlative break before segueing into a slightly more upbeat groover, “All the Monsters”. Coleman Hell’s clearly been around a DJ set or two as well, with an impeccable arrangement of tunes serving as a welcome storyline to the VENA saga. “Monsters” wonderfully brings its listener to Summer rooftop parties with its feelgood production, leaning on a loopy lead synth to serve as a driving focal point for not just itself but the EP as a whole. “Red Rover”, which features a lovely vocal contribution from his fellow Sideways crew member La+ch closes the 20 minute sonic excursion with a bullet. And while the saxophone may have been a bit overdrawn in dance music over the last couple years, Coleman Hell brilliantly drops an arpeggiated alto-sax melody amongst a sea of soft synthesizers to balance each aural aspect with the careful precision of a brain surgeon.

Already with an acclaimed mixtape, Stark Raving, and now a worthy EP entry into the Coleman Hell catalog, his debut full length is currently being prepped, rinsed and scoured for an early 2015 release; which quite honestly we can’t wait for. Hell’s sticky blend of pop accessibility and worldy wise production structures have our interest piqued almost more than any other new artist at the tail end of 2014. Watch for more new music from Coleman Hell here on TMN and stream VENA in its entirety below.

So Long ft. BB Diamond (Original Mix)

Jerry Folk has been on our radar for quite some time now, and he never ceases to amaze us. Coming out with his first ever original, the Norwegian producer is stepping his game up big time. This track, titled “So Long”, is a creation of many sounds. Featuring BB Diamond‘s soothing vocals which are the perfect fit for a club banger like this one, this tune contains multiple elements that make it distinctive and memorable. The electro beat, the catchy synth and the retro bassline are some of the highlights.

It’s almost surreal how Jerry Folk manages to incorporate so many different sounds into his work. If there’s one thing you should know about Next Wave artists, it’s that they all have an ever-changing sound and creative mentality that could revolutionize the standard of electronic music. Definitely stay tuned for 2015, as Jerry Folk is on a producing binge and will put out a lot more dope tracks for our hearing pleasure!

Having a lousy day? Struggling to find motivation? This magical track will get you going like no other. NY-based producer Jai Wolf just released this Dirty South remix titled “With You”, and being that it’s different than his other work, it’s still refreshing and addicting. The epic synthy intro that eventually replaces the beat drop immediately catches our attention. The synthwaves are bold and catchy, and are the perfect addition to the new style of music Jai Wolf is swaying towards. The subtle vocals combined with a warm, welcoming vibe almost resemble the sound of Porter Robinson.

The talented producer definitely deserves more attention after this epic remix. Check him out on his soundcloud and grab a free download via his Facebook page here. We’re expecting big moves from Jai Wolf soon!

[Chill] Atlas Bound – Talk

Atlas Bound
Talk

If you ever feel like chillaxing, grab your headphones and treat yourself to this wonderful tune. Atlas Bound, an Australian DJ/band crossover duo, just released this gem titled “Talk”. First thing that catches your attention is the Chet Faker-like vocals. The lazy yet soulful voice is mixed with a beat that is minimalist and downtempo. The faded piano keys in the background further accentuate the dreamy and jazzy approach of the song. The duo manages to create a sound so hypnotizing it’s almost therapeutic.

With the addition of Atlas Bound, Next Wave Records is set to take over the electronic music scene, showing such diversity and talent in its caliber. Definitely stay tuned for more dope music coming your way!
