[Future Trap] BANKS – Drowning (Stwo Remix)

BANKS
Drowning (Stwo Remix)

There is nothing more exciting than anticipating new music from Stwo. The French producer is renowned for transforming tracks into gold and, with his latest release, he certainly does not disappoint. Reworking “Drowning” by the LA lovechild BANKS, Stwo has once again proven that he is the remix king. Going with a minimalist trap beat, Jillian Banks’s vocals shine mixing perfectly with the ominous, emotionally-driven tune. Stwo definitely elevated the listening experience by throwing in his signature elements. He is so good at curating songs to remix that it’s easy to mistake his renditions for the originals.

Sharing is caring, and Stwo has always been extremely generous with giving out free music. Make sure to grab a free download via his SoundCloud here, and catch the him on a stop of his North American tour with Snakehips. Trust us, you do not want to miss out!

[Deep-House] Indian Summer – Shiner ft. Ginger & The Ghost (option4 Remix)

Indian Summer
Shiner ft. Ginger & The Ghost (option4 Remix)

After storming our pages last week with an utterly groovy remix of Sammy Bananas’ “Money Time” on Fool’s Gold Records, the underground street king of Denver Dance, option4, is back on yet another international tastemaking label, Australian based Sweat It Out, with a deep and glossy remix of Indian Summer’s “Shiner”. option4 rolls the cadence up a bit to suit what has quickly become a stellar signature blend of soul-fueled house and indie-dance while also slathering on a generous helping of punchy kicks and a swinging bassline to the original. With option4 creating such textured and danceable soundscapes with the refined ease and regularity of a twenty-year veteran while simultaneously dragging his fans into deeper waters; it’s no wonder why his layered remixes have been cropping up on some of dance music’s hottest imprints. We’ve been more than tickled with one of our favorite underground dance curators’ more emotive output as of late, and his “Shiner” remix is no different. Stream option4’s remix of Indian Summer’s “Shiner” above and equip that old sweat band (get it?) just in case.

60+ Songs to Prepare for Treasure Island Music Festival in SF, 10/18-19 [Event Preview + Playlist]

timf2014-sfweekly-fullpgLineups for major music festivals often boast 100+ artists, which although in theory is a great concept, can end up being overwhelming and frustrating when you realize the impossibility of seeing every act on the bill. San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Festival, a collaboration between Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment, provides one of the few exceptions to this conundrum electing to go with fewer artists and alternating sets at only two stages. Having attended last year, we found this to be a genius, albeit seemingly obvious, solution making the experience far more relaxed for festival-goers without sacrificing any quality in the music. Aside from the unique arrangement, the backdrop of Treasure Island overlooks both the Bay and Golden Gate bridges and has one of the more stunning sunsets the Bay Area has to offer. For anyone who will be attending this year, we also highly recommend checking out the non-stop Silent Disco stage courtesy Silent Frisco.

To help you all prepare for what should be an amazing weekend of music, we’ve put together a massive playlist including every single artist on the TIMF lineup because, with no overlapping sets, you will actually have the opportunity to see them all. Whether you’ve already got your ticket, are still on the fence or can’t make it this year, we hope this serves as a fun, introduction to a dynamic collection of musicians. One and two-day passes for Treasure Island Music Festival are still available so, if you like what you hear below, grab your tickets HERE.

[Synth-Pop] Mansions on the Moon – The Truth

Mansions On The Moon
The Truth

Consistently churning out some of the most well-composed alt-pop burners has been the modus operandi of Mansions on the Moon since their inception. We’ve been attentive fans in some way, shape or form since their first ever Diplo produced mixtape and on. The So-Cal troupe has been leaking singles from their forthcoming debut self-titled LP since July, most notably “Don’t Tell” and “Somewhere Else Tonight”, and with today’s release of their latest exposed single “The Truth”, we’ve realized Mansions has something very textured and special to release to their fans very soon. Every track thus far has filled a different role, whether it’s an upbeat melodious pop opus, an indie-rock leaning gem or slow searing ballads; and “The Truth” slides into its own place nicely. With an airy, atmospheric 80’s soul, “The Truth” reveals yet another ripple of production psyche and we’re beyond excited for the album to drop. Happy Friday Ninjas, you made it. Now listen to some beautifully arranged indie-pop and let the feel goods wash over you.

[Electro] Wax Motif X Hunter Siegel – All Night Man

Wax Motif X Hunter Siegel
All Night Man

Get your shuffle pants on because Wax Motif just came out with this new banger titled “All Night Man”! The Sydney-born DJ teamed up with Colorado-based producer Hunter Siegel to create this electro goody, and they certainly did not disappoint. The hardhitting bass definitely takes the spotlight of this tune, followed by this deep robotic voice sample that repeats throughout the track. The hardstep takes you to the breakdown in the middle, making you take a second to appreciate how underrated commercial dance music is.

This is the first we’ve heard from the talented producer ever since his performance at Hard Summer, but he’s definitely making a name for himself in the electro house genre. We are excited to see more of him.

Bassically

Wow. Well, this is where we would usually open up with some witty sentence to make everyone giggle, but we’re afraid that there aren’t too many words left in us that can describe this majestic wonder from New York’s, Tei Shi. The dreamy, seductive siren just unleashed a chilling new original, “Bassically”, and we can’t seem to escape her elusive voice that echoes inside our minds. “Bassically” is filled with synth-heavy melodies, reverberated elements that linger in the background and blend together with accompanying notes, and a haunting vocal from Tei Shi that teases your every sense. If you’re just now settling in for the night, then you came at the right time because this song will undeniably leave you begging for more.

We Left (Night Version)

Us Denver Ninjas are getting pretty dang excited for next Wednesday’s Fox Theatre show in Boulder, CO. The bill showcases one of Australia’s single most coveted musical exports, and one of TMN’s favorite acts in the entire electronic and indie landscape, RÜFÜS DU SOL who are bringing their entire live act for one of the most anticipated concerts on our agendas to round out 2014. The Aussie trio combine the spectacle of live instrumentation with a keen pop sensibility and dance undertones to hone a sound that has thrust them into international spotlight over the last few years. With singles like “Desert Night”, “Take Me”, official remixes for The Presets and most recently ZHU, as well as a pending debut long-player, Atlas; the indie-dance triumvirate have begun to bubble over into more mainstream consciousness during perhaps their richest musical stretch in the band’s short history. Further rounding out the card is another TMN favorite, Denver house maestro option4, who has become a serious mainstay here over the last year behind a jacking, soulful and unique take on house music, including his most recent debut on Fool’s Gold Records; and rounding out the evening is fellow Australians Hermitude who will undoubtedly pace the night wonderfully with their blend of instrumental, hip-hop infused electronicism.

Of course, we wouldn’t just tell you all about a show and not get our awesome readers involved. So we’re giving away a pair of tix through another contest! Entering is a breeze as usual, just “like” the TMN Facebook page and enter your e-mail below for a chance to win. There are a few rules as always, and be sure to stream “We Left” from RÜFÜS above. Winners will be notified via e-mail on Monday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Get to it!

– You are responsible for transportation.
– You must bring a valid form of ID to pick up your tickets at will call.
-You ABSOLUTELY MUST come correct with your hottest dance moves and put them on display the entire day on behalf of The Music Ninja
