[Electronic] SBTRKT – No Less

SBTRKT
nO less

Since the release of his sophomore album last year, SBTRKT has kept busy touring the world performing both solo shows and festival spots. As a result, we haven’t heard much new music but all of that started changing earlier this week when the UK producer began covertly dropping new music on his Soundcloud page. Thus far there isn’t much info on where the three tracks will land but, based on the collection, they seem to be short musical sketches, each experimenting with different elements.

The latest loosie, “No Less,” came out earlier today and, despite clocking in at only 2 minutes, proves a relaxing, steadily building beauty. Utilizing quick, warping percussion the track immediately grabs your attention before commanding orchestral instrumentation emerges. After dipping down the energy one more time, the song ties together flawlessly at the end with all its different facets in full force. Give this enchanting jam a listen above, check out SBTRKT’s Soundcloud to see the rest of his recent releases and make sure not to miss him if you’re heading to one of the major festivals this year.

Raincoats

Maribou State are quickly becoming one of the most intriguing acts in chilled-out electronic music composing compelling, emotional and organic tracks that have a way of mesmerizing listeners. The UK duo let loose another promising glimpse into their debut album yesterday with “Raincoats.” Built on a backbone of tribal drums and sparse guitar, the single builds into a steady house groove that melds with highly manipulated soulful vocal samples for an enchanting, ethereal bliss. It’s about as powerful and peaceful of an electronic song as you’ll hear.

“Raincoats” will be on Maribou State’s upcoming album, but is out today exclusively on vinyl as the bonus track for the 12″ release of their last single “Rituals”–you can pick up the physical record here. Maribou State’s debut, Portraits, is due out on June 2nd and can be pre-ordered now on iTunes.

Feed Me Jack – Humanzoo [TMN Premiere]

Feed Me Jack
Humanzoo

Oakland-based band Feed Me Jack rocked our SF showcase last month bringing their unique brand of indie rock to life in front of a full house. As they work on their full length album and experiment with new sounds, FMJ will be releasing a series of musical doodles on their Soundcloud page over the next few months and we’re stoked to be premiering the first one. “Humanzoo” demonstrates yet another dimension of the group’s creativity as they delve into psychedelic territory. Combining far-out vocal sampling, playful synths and syncopated percussion with their always smooth guitar work, FMJ create a tune that brings to mind the oddly infectious allure of Radiohead’s “15 Step.” Listening to their library thus far, it’s pretty remarkable the ever-expanding scope of styles Feed Me Jack have successfully traversed and “Humanzoo” bodes well for what’s to come. Vibe above and follow them on Soundcloud for more.

P.S. If you’re digging this track, check out our recent interview with FMJ here.
