[Experimental Electronic] Mr. Carmack – Drugs (EP)

’Mr Carmack – Rappers Rapping Rap’
’Mr. Carmack – Kick It Up’
’Rich Homie Quan feat. Young Thug – Get TF Out My Face (Mr. Carmack Remix)’
’Mr. Carmack  – Spring Shit Ft. Jacuzzi’

Just about anyone who surfs Soundcloud regularly is familiar with the talented Soulection producer Mr. Carmack. His unique production style is all over the place in the best way possible drawing from all spectrums of electronic sounds and beyond. Carmack releases tunes in a raw, and rare, fashion almost in a stream of conscious with informal titles that give a glimpse into his creativity and allow his fans to feel a unique connection to his musical personality.

At midnight a day ago, Carmack let loose a long-anticipated 17-track EP titled Drugs featuring many releases he had already shared on his SC stream, or during live sets, along with some brand new collaborations and remixes. Included in the project are far-out takes on hits like Future and Pharrell‘s “Move that Dope,” Major Lazer‘s “Aerosol Can” and Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan‘s “Get TF Out My Face” along with a stellar original collaboration with fellow up ‘n comer Jacuzzi. The Drugs EP highlights Carmack’s wonderfully strange quirks and makes for a high energy, often 808-backed, listen fitting for a dance part of any size. You can stream a few of our favorites above, but head over to his Bandcamp to stream the whole project and grab a copy at any price (including free) that you’d like.

Kid Moxie – Museum Motel (Kid Moxie & The Gaslamp Killer) [TMN Premiere]

Kid Moxie
Museum Motel (Kid Moxie & The Gaslamp Killer)

Greek-born LA-based singer Elena Charbila, who goes by the name of Kid Moxie, is coming out with a much anticipated album titled 1888. Collaborating with talented producers like Angelo Badalamenti and The Gaslamp Killer, Kid Moxie is set to take over the electronic pop genre with such diversity in her bag of tricks.

Here we have a track titled “Museum Motel”, which is one of the two collaborations The Gaslamp Killer has contributed in producing. The Los Angeles-based DJ has been a renowned producer for his unpredictable and wide range of electronic style. Providing a classical and epic approach to this song, the two musicians put together something so catchy and jaw-dropping that we just can’t get enough of. From the heavy dependence of strings, classical style drum beats and a variety of brass and woodwind instruments, the unique sound is something right off of a movie soundtrack, or something of that caliber. The riff from the flute almost resembles and reminds us of the infamous Kill Bill featured “The Lonely Shepherd”. Kid Moxie’s muffled and sustained vocals mix together perfectly with the track by giving it an ominous and mysterious feel. There is no doubt that although her vocals are not the highlights of this track, the minimalist approach of her supporting vocals totally elevate the desired effect of the distinctive sound of distinctive tune.

With that said, make sure to check out Kid Moxie and The Gaslamp Killer, and stay tuned for the upcoming 1888 album that’s coming out on 12/2. Trust me, you do not want to miss that!

Coronus, The Terminator

Flying Lotus released yet another peek into his upcoming album today with “Coronus, The Terminator.” While the tracks we’ve heard thus far seem to lean a bit more towards the darkness of his 2010 album, Cosmogramma, the latest glimpse combines those vibes with the aesthetic of his most recent project, Until the Quiet Comes. The result is ominous, yet relaxed and glimmering, making for a laid-back, albeit brief, listening experience. Give this one a spin above–You’re Dead! is out October 7th via Warp Records.

Jewelz & Sparks – Phantom [TMN Premiere]

Jewelz & Sparks
Phantom (Original Mix)

Hidden in the deepest, darkest corners of our fears lies a maniacal phantom who has decided to stir up a frenzy inside our heads. This figment of our imagination isn’t just your typical worst nightmare because it actually turns out that he’s not just an apparition…he’s real and he’s about to permeate your mind and lure you into his madness. Helping him fulfill his twisted endeavors are madmen, Jewelz & Sparks. The German duo decided to pull the sheets off from over head and drag us into a chaotic hallucination with their newest original, “Phantom”.

Is somebody there?…

Filled with fear-evoking, mind-boggling, ear-shattering elements, Jewelz & Sparks have introduced us to the once dormant phantom by means of this haunting production. Loaded with bursting electro synths, grimy breakdowns, and a haunting, child-like hook to make you break a sweat, “Phantom” is out of this world in every way – and that’s an understatement. With no intentions of settling our fears, Jewelz & Sparks have completely violated all of our boundaries and have taken us to a terrorizing place that would make even Freddy Krueger want to call his mommy. Jewelz & Sparks have taken the mask off of this mysterious enigma and are about to provoke you like never before. Prepare to sleep with one eye open tonight, ninjas, because you won’t be able to sleep peacefully after hearing this. “Phantom” is out next week (9/23) on Dim Mak Records, so if you’re crazy enough to handle this beastly song, then hop on over to iTunes and pre-order your copy today.
