Taken from their forthcoming EP, Quiet Confidence, Ninetails bring us a densely demure and profoundly affective offering in the form of opening track: “Radiant Hex.”

Intellectualising sound and language to such great heights and complexities rarely combines so seamlessly. This Liverpudlian three piece have woven the elements together, in a few minutes of ornate and unobtrusive modesty.

“Radiant Hex” commences with a tranquil, rnb-esque setting, soon interlaced with an effortlessly mellifluous vocal and beautifully versed discourse. Shifting sonic soundscapes aren’t the only views to admire. Complex arrangements are overlaid with lyricism both poetic and profound. Collaboration, rather than collision is key: not allowing one element to embody and encompass the product, the poignant and well-crafted words are allowed to marinade in electronic instrumentalization and idiosyncratic backdrops.

Immersive moments creep constantly through the track. Ethereal and contemplative, “Radiant Hex” suspends any sense of urgency and takes a more meditative route to euphoria. The product: evocation of emotive grandiose carried in calmness.

Radiating ambience of the most affecting sort, this Avant-pop/indie revelation doesn’t need an anthemic chorus to move you, but they do give us something to shout about.

James Blake has recently taken residency as a DJ on BBC Radio and, as part of his inaugural show, the talented U.K. artist shared a brand new track of his own. “40455” carries the feel of Overgrown with its deeply emotional vocals and Blake’s incredible, often haunting work on the keyboard. Zone out to this one below and look for a few James Blake crafted remixes to surface from the recent BBC1 Radio installment in the near future. If only our radio stations (NPR excluded) could be as cool as BBC…

[Mixtape] MeLo-X – Yoncé X (Beyoncé Remix EP)

MeLo-X was probably one of the most criminally underrated artists of 2013. After releasing three mixtapes, an EP, and an album last year, MeLo isn’t showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. In honor of Blue Ivy‘s (Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s daughter for those of you who don’t know) 2nd birthday yesterday, the Brooklyn native decided to release a free 5-track remix EP dedicated to the momma diva’s latest album. MeLo-X is a multi-talented man, so instead of simply hopping on some beats and contributing a few verses, he decided to put his production hand to work, crafting a deeply rich, ambient sound that’s both therapeutic, yet spine tingling in nature. Of course, he couldn’t completely resist the microphone, as you can hear the emcee chop it up on the fourth track, “9-5 Killa,” a rework of “Ghost.”

SBTRKT spent a good amount of time in 2013 teasing us with some of the new sounds he was experimenting with in the studio. While that trend hasn’t quite changed yet, he has chosen to unearth some of his older material. “Runaway” is a track that he’s used in sets dating back to at least 2012, and one that he apparently used to close out his New Year’s set as well. Sparse on details, what we do know about the track is that it features vocals from the talented Jessie Ware, with Sampha echoing in the background. Although the track is barely over a minute, it’s still incredibly beautiful. Here’s hoping we get to hear a much longer version sometime in the near future. Stream the track above, and stay tuned for SBTRKT’s sophomore effort, which should be dropping soon.

As a way to celebrate 100K followers, experimental producer Four Tet has sneakily let loose a slew of free remixes and original tracks via his Twitter. Among the fifteen previously unreleased tracks, this downright heavenly reimagination of Grimes’s “Skin” may be our favorite. The actor-turned-rapper route is not unfamiliar territory for rising star Donald Glover. The stand-up comedian dropped an introduction to the inner workings of his creative mind and skills on the mic with the moderately successful Camp in 2011. Mixing together sounds of dubstep, dance, electronica, and pop, fans witnessed another side of the rising star under his alias of Childish Gambino. Although not album of the year material, the first effort from Gambino was filled with plenty of innovative sounds and autobiographical tracks that painted an extensive narrative of what makes Glover the artist he is. With his sophomore release Because the internet, Gambino continues his introspective saga and delves deeper into his fears of loneliness over colorful production with comedic delivery.

After the lackluster reception of his ROYALTY tape last year, Gambino parted ways from the hit NBC show Community to focus on his sophomore release. The unveiling of his short film, Clapping for the Wrong Reasons, and an accompanying screenplay only further provided fans with insight into the developing theme of the project, while steadily building anticipation as well. The end result became a conjunct LP separated into five distinct musical suites (recognized by the different roman numerals between the interludes) that reflect the multiple moods and, ironically, the multiple career paths of the artist.
