[Alternative] Fyfe – Lies Pt. II

f y f e
Lies Pt. II

Fyfe has already expressed his disdain for deceit once before, but it seems like he wasn’t quite finished with the topic. Hammering his point home for a second time, this sequel takes a much more minimalist approach than the original, with the UK crooner’s vocals floating seamlessly over a nearly vacant, serene ambient backdrop. It’s a truly beautiful song, and yet another gem to add to the London native’s excellent collection. Check out the single above, and make sure to grab yourself a free download of this wonderful tune.

[Experimental Hip-Hop] Emay – Wudhu (Cleanliness)

’Emay – Wudhu “Cleanlinessness” (Demo)’

We haven’t heard much from Emay since last year’s instrumental project, Into It. Well, it finally looks like the Montreal native is ready to take command of the mic again, letting go of a brand new demo called, “Wudhu (Cleanliness).”  We’ve always been fans of the emcee’s stream of consciousness flow, and his production is still on a whole different level, as he blends together a distorted, harmonious sample with a simple, pounding drum pattern to produce a vivid, awe inspiring instrumental.

The song’s title makes reference to the process of cleansing oneself that Muslims practice before every prayer. Could that signal that Emay is ready to make a fresh start? Let’s hope so, because we’ve waited way too long to hear a new project from the talented young wordsmith.

[NEW] JMSN – The One

JMSN
The One

The other night JMSN tweeted out, “Every time I listen to my new album drunk, I get excited about it. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.” To us that seems like a positive sign, and after listening to his latest single, “The One,” we couldn’t be anymore excited for his new project ourselves. “The One” is another deeply layered and atmospheric soulful masterpiece that allows us to wander along inside JMSN’s mind as he struggles to figure out whether his current lover is truly that special person. This one is definitely worthy of multiple spins as you await the release of †Pllajë†, which is due out on November 5th.

Digital Farm Animals – Buggin’ ft. Tyson [TMN Premiere]

Digital Farm Animals
Buggin' Feat Tyson

With only the third single to his name which rounds out a brief extended play entitled Bugged Out, London’s Digital Farm Animals has already put together quite the impressive group of tracks. Fusing the stylings of synth-pop, nu-wave, house and a solid sprinkling of pop influenced instrumentation, DFA quickly slid onto our radar, and has remained near the top of our ‘artists to watch’ in 2013. The latest effort “Buggin'”, featuring the vocal stylings of Tyson, finds the young producer tackling a much more club-centered dancefloor vibe, pumped up by very retro and 80’s leaning synthesizers  and a glittery kick-drum. Now that we’ve had the chance to feature all three tracks from Bugged Out over the last few months, including “Adore You” and “Bad Idea” as well as a revealing personal interview, it’s your turn to take our advice to go ahead and download the entire EP for the hefty price of one “Facebook Like” (which you can complete here) and start getting your Digital Farm Animals on.

[Video] BANKS – This Is What It Feels Like

BANKS
This Is What It Feels Like (Prod. Lil Silva & Jamie Woon)

When we first heard this single from BANKS, we mentioned just how truly eerie the track was. It’s only fitting then that its accompanying visuals are equally as mysterious. The video begins ominously, with dark clouds looming overhead as raindrops begin to gently fall against the windows of an empty house. Things only get darker from there, as the storm begins to pick up, the shadows soon take over, and objects start to move on their own. All the while, the seductive crooner dances alone inside and gazes out the window longingly, seemingly reflecting on the past and hoping for a new future. In the end however, things begin to look brighter, as the clouds finally part and we’re treated with a scenic view of a mountainous landscape.

Check out the mesmerizing visuals below, and make sure to grab yourself a copy of BANKS’s London EP if you haven’t already.
