[Indie] Lost in the Trees – Villain (I’ll Stick Around) (Video)

In 2010 we received All Alone in an Empty House from North Carolina natives, Lost in the Trees. Today, it’s A Church That Fits Our Needs, and it’s wonderful. It’s been likened to the intense abstract nature of Radiohead and the sentimentality of Bon Iver‘s For Emma, Forever Ago. The album is no doubt emotionally intense and riveting. The depth of each track is quite expansive and it simply gets a listener thinking. “Villain” is an excellent example of these notions. It’s straight forward in it’s poignancy and really gets on a provocative level of abstract tenderness. The video here captures well the air of the track. It’s interestingly beautiful and intriguing. But just don’t take my word for it, watch it and see for yourself.

[Chill] Flying Lotus – Flotus

Fresh off the release of his stellar album Until the Quiet Comes, Flying Lotus dopped this previously unreleased track earlier today. “Flotus,” a heavily hip-hop influenced instrumental, is yet another example of the super-producers versatility. The song flows smoothly for the first minute and a half before the percussion, along with some additional instrumentation, join creating a tranquil, laid-back sound.

[Folk/Funk Introducing] The East Collective

Armed with a beatbox, guitars and a piano – The East Collective are a relatively new group that are quickly getting the attention of the suits in A&R. Their latest track “Go Hard” provides one hell of a catchy bass line coupled with some silky vocals – the uplifting summer sounds kinda urge you to hit repeat! Whilst new, they’re definitely on our ones to watch list so if you wanna go see them they’ll be appearing on Thursday 1st November @barfly Camden – head on down and enjoy.

[Experimental] SBTRKT – Terminal

We haven’t heard too much from the innovative U.K. based producer SBTRKT since his debut self-titled album inspired awe among both fans and critics last year. Although SBTRKT is often placed in the EDM genre, his experimentation with bass and unique percussion truly separates him from his colleagues. His latest track, “Terminal,” perfectly embodies the masked artist’s style drawing the listener in with an addicting and evolving loop that warps for just a second creating a sort of anxiety for its return. Despite the low-key feel, you will find it difficult to resist a bouncy head nod induced by this original creation. Check it below!

Ahh, experimental.. No rules, no boundaries; the listener is entirely at the mercy of the artist’s wildest imaginations.

Straying far from the comfort of his usual DnB trademark, London-based producer Thomas Green, aka Rockwell, drops down to head-turning 85-beats-per-minute with his latest masterpiece, “Childhood Memories”. Featuring talents from fellow UK producer, Kito and vocalist Sam Frank, the track is a nonstop flow of hard, head bobbin’ kicks, intricate synth alchemy, and beautifully atmospheric vocals – a product of experimentation at its best.

[Electronica] S O H N – The Wheel

London-born, Vienna-based musician S O H N shares “The Wheel,” a beautifully somber new song that’s flushed with lovely, cooing but pained vocals, staggering synth patterns, and a mellow ticking beat. “The Wheel” comes off an EP of the same name, due out November 5th on Aesop. Definitely an artist to watch.
