AlunaGeorge continue to impress with their shimmering “Your Drums, Your Love” single. Delivering a textbook lesson in bass-heavy pop, this new single further reinforces the promise that AlunaGeorge are one of the UK’s brightest hopes.
“Your Drums, Your Love” is out October 8th, preceding the duo’s debut album which is slated for an early 2013 release.
Idaho native Trevor Powers, AKA Youth Lagoon, has been remixed by fellow Boise boy Noah Hyde. Taking the superb “Daydream,” producer Hyde has given the track a full dance reworking, fleshing out the original with euphoric synths and beats. Powers’ hazy vocals are still as perfect as ever, but they have a more wistful quality in this refix. Definitely one for the club kids out there, stream “Daydream” below.
If you like your music to be genre-bending with a good dose of shimmer on top, then Los Angeles five-piece Young Hunting are just the band for you. Latest track “Maze” is a delicious summer jam, encompassing psych, garage, and synth-pop in one fluid and incredibly intriguing package. Young Hunting may not have much music out at the moment, but “Maze” is all you need to hear to fall in love with them.
I love it when two of my favorite artists collaborate to form something new! Boreta from The Glitch Mob, and EPROM bring us this tasty new sound that rocks the Glitch genre. They put both of their unique styles in a blender and pooped out Nasty Ways. “Cyber Snake” treats us with some low heavy bass, with a side of a squelchy lead. “Skrakken” takes us for complete turnaround with a bass so heavy it’ll blow your head off! The juggernout of complex and organic bass productions, Flying Lotus, is two months shy from releasing the highly anticipated new album Until The Quiet Comes featuring collaborations with Thom Yorke and Erykah Badu. Drenched in a mystic atmosphere of drums and aggressively experimental sounds, “See Thru To U” emerges as the new single showcasing the vocals Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter Erykah Badu.

Icelandic experimentalists Sigur Rós are now fully immersed in their latest work, the Mystery Film Experiment, which has seen the band create visual accompaniments to tracks from their most recent album, Valtari. New video “Varðeldur” is a slow, meditative piece, with a haunting melody, and the film complements it perfectly. Featuring a redheaded woman in a single, bare room, she performs strange slow-motion movements as “Varðeldur” progresses, creating a bewildering yet beautiful scene to lose yourself in.
Little is known about Youan, as he’s part of a growing number of artists who prefer to stay shrouded behind the luxury of anonymity that comes with releasing music solely through the Internet. I’m sure we’ll learn more about the mystery man as time passes, but for now we’ll let the art speak for itself. What I’ve learned so far is that the man makes some perfectly mellow music to vibe out to as the evening winds down. On his newest track, “Must Be Love,” he delivers some very Sampha-esque vocals over a sample of “Over My Dead Body,” that swirls together creating a sort of soothing hybrid between SBTRKT & Drake.
