[Electronic] Koloto – Fox Tales (Set In Sand Remix)

Koloto
Fox Tales (Set In Sand Remix)

Glitch music has such a wide scope of possibilities. Set In Sand schools us in this train of thought with his newest remix of an older Koloto tune, Fox Tales. The original thrives on its own glitch elements as well, but Set In Sand has emphasized the unpredictable shift of this facet of music, ascending to a level almost on par with the Glitch Mob and their respective side projects. While Glitch Mob has had massive success with a higher energy, Set In Sand showcases his strength with a calmer approach.

This remix is chilling, inspiring, erratic yet pleasing, and an enjoyable overall listen. It twists and turns constantly, but manages to create an air of comfort with each shift of its rhythm as well. While it was released during the later part of last year, Bad Panda Records just recently added this remix to their SoundCloud. It was a pleasant reminder, and certainly merits a revisit.

[Future] Katuchat – Lonely Cloud (EP)

French based Moose Records recently released an EP that will be already be contending for one of the best of the year. Katuchat just made a statement with Lonely Cloud. Interweaving elements of Japanese influence, futuristic synths, and an air of unparalleled serenity, Katuchat cemented a spot as a prominent budding producer who should have your undivided attention.

From the plucks of Pink Lemonade to the final chimes of Pastel, this project carries a large potential of success to push electronic music in the right direction, not unlike Cashmere Cat‘s Wedding Bells EP. Calling on features from Andrea and his younger brother, Rusty Hook, Katuchat formulated a cold, but compelling world within these four tracks. He dives unwavering into an atmosphere intended for introspection and calm, and we definitely thank him for it.

[Minimal-Bass] Primal Intent – Bar In Every Room

PRIMAL INTENT
Bar In Every Room

It’s clear that South African producer Martin Folb maintains an astute and forward thinking grasp on electronic production that other artists could only dream of. From his inspiring work with PANTyRAID and multi-faceted MartyParty solo project, Folb has put forth quite the diverse library of music over the years. Yet Primal Intent, his newest collaboration with Miami bred Paul Gorman, sees a paradigm shift into the world of more club driven beats, and away from the more expansive, glitch wielding tunes which have been attached to the MartyParty & PANTyRAID brands. The duo’s first single, “Bar In Every Room” delves within a multitude of styles from minimal techno, soul, and all permutations of the prefix before “-step”. We’re bounced back and forth between layered two-step melody, pounding four-four bass and hip-hop infused claps; giving off an ambience somewhere between Berghain’s darkest techno parties and a straightforward trap banger. Primal Intent’s debut self-titled LP is set to be released tomorrow, November 18th, on iTunes so before then, get your fix with “Bar In Every Room” above.

DiRTY RADiO
Infinity (Beat by: Esta ft. J-Bird)

We’ve been staying on top of Canadian PBR&B triumvirate DiRTY RADiO’s vocal remix series since its inception, which thus far has seen them rework sultry tunes from Darius and Pomo to name a few, and today they’re back with the latest entry “Infinity”. “Infinity” takes Esta’s sexy piano laden J-Bird featured burner “Moet” and boosts the tune with a signature blend of provocative vocal stylings and velvety choices in instrumental backing. We’ve been feeling all sorts of sexy going through DiRTY RADiO’s remixes, and we think that’s a feeling you NInjas should experience as well. Once again, DiRTY RADiO’s giving this one away for free in exchange for a Facebook “Like”, so hop on over and add this to your iTunes collection.

[Electronic] MAZDE – Shifted Thoughts ft. La Mar

Mazde
Shifted Thoughts (feat La Mar)

The artistic musical project of genre bending German electronic producer Matthias Dierkes, Mazde, is back with a rock solid original recording, “Shifted Thoughts”. After first being featured here on TMN with a sterling remix of S O H N’s “The Wheel”, the enlightened 20 year old has come through with a promising and dynamic EP, fittingly titled Shifted Thoughts, which is the first release out on Australian tastemaker dance giants Stoney Roads’ new imprint. The title track from Mazde’s aforementioned extended play, “Shifted Thoughts” is a thinking listener’s take on an accessible glitched out two-step infused electronic record. Mazde’s newest single rides a hauntingly gorgeous vocal track from La Mar and like much of the incredible electronic music being pushed by our Aussie amigos, it’s an astutely wound soundscape dripping in texture. We’re certainly excited to see what else is coming down the pipe from Mazde as his work grows more mature and finely tuned with every passing release. Stream “Shifted Thoughts” above and check out the B-Side “Forest Of Gold” here.

[Chill-Step] We Are Twin – True Love (White Cliffs Remix)

We Are Twin
True Love (White Cliffs Remix)

While much of electronic music’s rising stars are cashing in on the influx of fist-pumping teens and college students flocking towards ‘big-room’ EDM tents at festivals and larger than life, build-up wielding stadium sized tunes; some purveyors of the widespread genre are busy crafting forward thinking, melodious arrangements and expressions. Such a case study is debuting beatsmith, White Cliffs. Rather than assaulting his listeners with the same production kits used within every inch of the mainstream dance community, White Cliffs’ remix of We Are Twin‘s “True Love” is a breath of freshly composed air which receives its luster from a slick two-step drum inflection, subdued high-end percussion and just an utterly gorgeous vocal from We Are Twins. For a premiere track, White Cliffs’ subtle use of vocal chopping resonates across like a true professional musician, keeping the original’s indelible energy intact while fully communicating an educated albeit understated electronic musical point of view. This one can be swiped as a free download here, and we’re highly suggesting you do.
