[Future Funk] Rudimental Feat. Ella Eyre – Waiting All Night (Kaptain Remix)

Rudimental Feat. Ella Eyre
Waiting All Night (Kaptain Remix)

Whenever we see a Rudimental remix pop up on our newsfeed, they can either win the internet or burn it to the ground…there really is no in between. If you’ve been around long enough then you all might have picked up by now that we don’t post shitty music, so don’t worry because we have a ninja-approved Rudimental remix that will 100% change your life. San Francisco producer and Future Funk beat maker, Kaptain, gave us a run for our money with his latest remix of Rudimental and Ella Eyre’s, “Waiting All Night”. As soon as we pressed play, we felt as if we were listening to the next Griz and Pretty Lights of our time. Loaded with futuristic synth breakdowns, a heavy rolling bassline, and enough funk to shoot us back to our days of grooving at The DoLab at Coachella, Kaptain re-works “Up All Night” into something that literally makes want to stay up and get silly. Make sure to add this remix to your collection of freebies and get funky on this fantastic Friday, ninjas!

[Electronic/R&B] Sebell – Promiseland (Stint Remix)

Sebell
Promiseland (Stint Remix)

When a tune sweeps its listener off of their feet within the first four bars there might not be anything more beautiful to most of us here at TMN. Such was the case when we got our Ninja hands on the latest remix from one of the freshest sounding artists to grace TMN this year, Stint. The way he’s contorted and twisted Canadian alt-popper Sebell’s “Promiseland” is nothing short of captivating, and we were in hook, line and sinker the moment we got our first taste of his two-step melody. But, obviously the centerpiece to Stint’s alluring rhythm comes in the form of an instrument we never thought would make an appearance on TMN post SBTRKT’s self titled LP; the Kalimba – which is essentially a scaled down harp, sometimes referred to as a “finger harp” or “thumb piano”. The aural ambience set by such an assuming instrument, dispersed amongst such a well composed sea of electronicism and R&B was one of the best pieces we’ve heard all month; so do your ears a solid and pick this one up for free here.

[Chill-Step/Melodic Trap] Jacuzzi – Curtain Call (P A T H Remix)

JACUZZI
CURTAIN CALL (P A T H REMIX)

16 year old bass sensation P A T H has returned to TMN with another well thought out, groovy and glitched remix; this time of Jacuzzi’s “Curtain Call”. Coming off of an impressive and completely innovative rendition of Kimbra’s pop smash “Settle Down”, the Vermont native turns in another tune with a sound you would think to be beyond his years. An air of euphoria fills the tune from its onset of muted pads down to the first breath of dreamy string arrangements, and we just couldn’t seem to wrap our heads around its subtle intricacies with just one listen. Which is why it’s been on repeat at this writer’s desk for about twenty minutes now. And sticking to his altruistic record with his music, P A T H is giving this one away for free on FB here. Hop to it, slink back and let this one ride loud on a real set of monitors.

DiRTY RADiO
Relentless (Beat by: Pomo)
Vancouver trio DiRTY RADiO, using the sultry instrumentation of beatsmith and fellow city dweller Pomo from his tune “Only You”, just painted a perma-sexy smile on our face this Friday with their newest tune “Relentless”. The first in what will be a series of mixtape style vocal remixes, “Relentless” plays like a two-step slice of steamy future R&B fused with the clicky and sophisticated stylings of Pomo. Heading into our favorite three days of the week, and on a gray and blustery day for this writer in Denver, this one had us feeling all kinds of warm and fuzzy which was just… aces. These smooth Canucks are giving this one away for free so snag a copy here in exchange for a Facebook “like”, settle into something warm and kick back to “Relentless” to get the ball rolling on your weekend.

[New] Arcade Fire – Afterlife (Flume Remix)

Arcade Fire
Afterlife (Flume Remix)

It’s been a crazy ride for Australia’s wunderkind Flume, and by now, you should be familiar with the man and his music. The young producer has been coasting through the festival circuit with sets at Palm Springs’ Splash House and San Francisco’s Outside Lands this past weekend. Today, Flume, who is also one half of What So Not, has dropped a new remix, and it’s a stunner.

Arcade Fire track “Afterlife” gets the Flume fix, resulting in a rework with a hazy tinge to it. Flume’s “Afterlife” remix is considerably more mellow than his previous work, but he manages to orchestrate the track in a way where the beat’s sublime sound is the focal point, but does not compromise or upstage the original’s vocals.

Buzzing opinions appear to be less than favorable for Flume’s latest piece, but it’s undeniable that the man is talented. We’re interpreting the direction of this remix as an indication that the his sound is constantly fluctuating and evolving, but only time will tell us what he’s got up his sleeve.
