Gemmy – Lakota (AC Slater Remix)

I’ll always remember the 2nd show I went to in 2009. It was Hard Summer, the last year they hosted it at The Forum. Before the Fire Marshals and LAPD came to tear gas the crowds that were trying to make their way into the overbooked venue, I got a chance to see a few of the artists play their set. One of them was AC Slater, and man, was his set sick.

And so is this new remix. “Lakota,” by Gemmy, has been turned into a big bassy breakbeat served for breakfast. There’s a quality to AC Slater’s music that remains so undeniably authentic; he holds true to his signature styles. His transitions from arpeggiated basslines to the stabby fifths to the insanely dirty drop…this song just makes my extremities want to fly and flail all over the place, in the most wonderful way possible. Check this track out, and you’ll see what I mean.

This track will be released by Roska Kicks & Snares LTD on 7/30/2012

But in the meantime, listen here.

Invader! – OMG WTF HAX EP

Our exact reaction to this EP was ‘OMG WTF HAX’. All these monster, over-filtered, gritty basses pack enough power to melt off our faces and eat them for breakfast. Invader! is a fairly new electronic music project of 21 year old producer Alejo Gonzáles based out of South Florida. With this new EP coming from Royal One Records, he will come out banging through everything. All the songs are equally amazing and powerful. Invader! is one to look out for with future releases. With that said, prepare yourself for the invasion of bass.

Steve Aoki – Control Freak Feat. Blaqstarr & Kay (Dillon Francis Remix)

Dillon Francis may be one of the strangest EDM producers around right now with his obsession of putting peoples faces on cats, but he can drop the bass! This remix of Steve Aoki’s ‘Control Freak’ featuring Blaqstarr & Kay is one hard-hitting Moombahton track. With the “uncontrolled” glitch sounds of Electro House and the drum beat of Moombahton, this is a track that will rock a party. There is a very fun and detailed 1st drop that leads onto a calming breakdown with beautiful vocals by Kay. Next thing you know, an even harder 2nd drop is making the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. This truly is a track that will make you want to jump around and have a good time!

Nalepa – Monday (The Glitch Mob Remix)

After attending a Glitch Mob show earlier in the year, I made it a point to keep out a close watch for more music from them. How could this song have slipped through my hands and ears! This is a heavy hitting remix from the trio, but that is nothing new. Glitch Mob attaches vivid imagery to each and every one of their songs. The track was dropped in 2008 and is one of the earliest of remixes from the group. With pounding bass, sweeping filters, and synth pads I can only imagine its ‘play-ability’ in the clubs. It has a dark and underground feel, perfect for basement parties. Just goes to show how absolutely solid this team is as a whole. Be sure to check them out if they ever stop in a town near you. Don’t let the chill ambient-ness of the music box in the beginning throw you off.
