[Multi-Genre] F.O.O.L – Knight EP

When F.O.O.L drops something, you listen. When it’s dropped on Monstercat, like his Knight EP, you should be even more eager to lend your ears to what the Swede created. His four tracks range in genres from electro, to dubstep, then he brings down the BPMs to the midtempo range to close things out.

F.O.O.L comes on strong with the explosive “Bounty Hunter” that straight shreds for an electro house track. Few tracks of this nature and quality have been released in a long, long time. Next, the title track brings the fire in a similar manner with a complex arrangement that keeps the energy at a high intensity. For the last half of the EP, F.O.O.L slows things down and shows off a different side of his creative abilities. “Fairytaler” is a dreamy dubstep tune and “Distorted Reality” is genre-defying song that is pretty vibey for a Euro bass track. If you would like to purchase the EP, you can do so on iTunes.

Higher – Indica/Sativa (SectionZ 4/20 Playlists) [TMN EXCLUSIVE]

sativa

Even though the celebrations taking place today are standard fare out here in Colorado, we know our ninjas all across the globe are looking forward to this unofficial, yet widely recognized holiday. In honor of 4/20, we’ve partnered with the forward-thinking electronic label SectionZ Records to help release a free, two-part, 31-track compilation.

Titled SectionZ Higher, this collection encompasses the diversity of their roster and highlights the label’s strong commitment to marijuana law reform. This free double album features tracks from lauded SectionZ artists like Savant and Mr. Bill alongside relative newcomers like Evoke, Panda Coast, and Zanski.

We chose tracks that contain multiple levels of both meaning and sonic architecture. We also chose the tracks based on the different strains Indica and Sativa and how those affect both body and mind. A song like Mr. Bill & Evoke same lets you sink back into your mind as it plants a concept and gives you the perfect landing zone. For Sativa its different. It’s a very active high so we chose music that would compliment and inspire that, like Detective Orange – OMG I Can’t Even is more about moving and easily transitions into the background without losing its feel. – Josh Hernandez SectionZ Records

[Funky] Big Data – The Business Of Emotion (Lefti Remix)

Big Data
"The Business Of Emotion (Lefti Remix)"

Following the success of his remix of Avan Lava‘s “Wanna Live”, NYC up and comer Alex Suarez a.k.a Lefti just released this rework of Big Data‘s “The Business of Emotion” to keep the ball rolling. The glitchy bass and bold synth resemble the sound of Justice, giving off a French house vibe. Stripping down the vocals and adding a series of funky bassline, Lefti creates a disco track everyone should dance to.

With only a handful of remixes under his belt, this tune helps the talented producer find his signature sound. Get jammin’ to this track and let us know what you think!

[Album Review] Kill Paris – Galaxies Between Us

One of the main men behind the future funk scene, Kill Paris, finally released his debut album on April 14th, 2015. Galaxies Between Us offers up ten tracks released completely for free through his own label, Sexy Electric, which is home to free music exclusively.

Galaxies Between Us is a cosmic adventure through time and space that is comprised solely of good vibes. Even with the one colder song “You Don’t Love Me No More,” Corey manages to convey a certain level of alacrity in it. From the start with the bubbly “Arrival” until the end with the mellowed out “Tropical Dinosaur” you are embraced by an atmosphere of smooth, groovy goodness. Favorites include the introductory track, the second track on the album “Gonna Get High” and the collaboration with the firey future producer Royal, who’s released an official remix for Tegan and Sara.

Kill Paris has already made his mark on the scene, and with this album he further solidifies himself as a leading producer in the game. Identity is not something that is easily established and continuously molded, but Kill Paris manages to keep up the harvesting of some of the freshest tunes around that keep in line with his musical vision. No matter what flavors he uses, you know when you have a Kill Paris tune on your hands.

Like we mentioned before, Galaxies Between Us has been released for free, so all you need to do is head to his website for a copy. Moreover, if you enjoy the album, spread it around to your friends and loved ones!

[New] Nero – The Thrill (Porter Robinson Remix)

Nero
The Thrill (Porter Robinson Remix)

Following his Worlds Tour, it’s been a while since Porter Robinson came out with new music. To our surprise, he premiered this epic remix of Nero‘s “The Thrill” at Coachella last Friday and turned up the heat even more at the desert.  The 22-year-old prodigy sampled Alana Watson‘s vocals on top of some classic Porter maneuvers, creating beautiful melodies and fusing them with glitchy synths. The cadenced synth melodies manage to keep the track breathtaking, moving and epic, as it is closed out with some simple and pretty keys. The style of the remix resembles something off of Worlds.

It’s no surprise that Porter’s originality and relevance make him one of the frontrunners in the electronic scene. It’s creative minds like his that keep the ball rolling for today’s music. Take a listen to this brand new track as Porter Robinson once again proved that genres don’t matter.

[Festival Preview] Lightning in a Bottle 2015 + Playlist

okokokok

Do you hear what we hear? It’s the sweet, sweet sound of festival season and it’s about time we get our eyes, ears, and minds ready for another year of sensational performances, overpriced beer, conflicting line-up times, and shower-less days to make us smell like regret the next morning. If you’re anything like us over here at TMN, then you understand just how important festival season is to us. Come on, who doesn’t love to spend hours upon hours of our weekends listening to some of the most talented artists from around the world while also connecting with like-minded individuals at the same exact time? Well, considering they’re not a wook…(please see THUMP article for more information on how to spot and avoid said wook).

With Coachella making it’s first pit stop this weekend and later this month, we can’t help but pack our bags a few weeks in advance because we’re prepared to take on this years Coachella head on. Clearly, we’re just really excited, but not because festival season is finally here, but because we just realized that we are 7 weeks shy of attending the latest and greatest gig, Lightning in a Bottle. Stationed out in the beautiful Bradley, California, LiB is back again and this time with loads of talent and entertainment that’ll rattle your bones and change your life all at the same time. We missed last years festivities and after listening to everyone and their mom (literally) tell us that LiB was the best thing to have ever happened to their lives, we can’t help but shed a million tears for not being present in the moment with some of the world’s most positive and uplifting people on this planet.
