[Hip-Hop] Julia Lewis- On The Regular (W/ EluJay, Mr. Carmack, Mikos Da Gawd)

JULiA LEWiS
On The Regular (W/ Elujay, Mr. Carmack, Mikos Da Gawd)

“On The Regular” is the newest track from Bay area producer Julia Lewis who collaborated with producers Mr. Carmack and Mikos Da Gawd. EluJay, an Oakland rapper who, with his laid back style of lyricism, works perfectly with Lewis’ production. The beat itself will carry over any sound system with its pleasing island vibe which makes it the perfect track for the waning days of Summer. Make sure to get this one for that final Summer time pool party playlist before it gets too cold outside. If you enjoyed this track as much as I did you will be ecstatic to know that this is the first of a series of releases between Lewis and EluJay. They didn’t disappoint with this one so I will be patiently waiting for their other releases to come out.

Anytime I take even a week off the show it feels like I’ve got way too much music to share. This time around I started with about 5 hours and whittled it down to the ones that best fit the vibe. Per usual, the show varies pretty drastically genre-wise spotlighting new albums from Mount Kimbie, LCD Soundsystem, Alvvays, Nosaj Thing, Brockhampton & Klyne. Also featured are singles from Adam Vida, Giraffage, Qrion, Slow Magic, Courtship Ritual & more.

[Music Video] Mistah F.A.B. – Champagne & Cookies

Back in May, the Bay Area legend Mistah F.A.B. released his album Stan Pablo: 4506. The last song on the LP, “Champagne & Cookies” has now, just a few months later, received a dope music video. Mistah F.A.B. keeps things simple and tasteful with this visual adaptation.

“Champagne & Cookies” as a track oozes the cool confidence that its creator exudes. It’s no doubt such a strong record comes from one of the most iconic figures in rap. In regards to the video, it follows Mistah F.A.B. through several scenes, including one with a cameo from the one and only Sway. Give the video a peep and make sure to grab the album from iTunes if you have not yet.

JETSET – Rain (feat. osotyt) [TMN Premiere]

JETSET
Rain (feat. osotyt)

Grime isn’t something I listen to on a daily, or even a weekly basis. I can’t even remember the last time I did, but now I’m all about it in the form of “Rain” by JETSET. This free download is just too unique not to love.

JETSET doesn’t take all the glory on this one as he enlisted osotyt to hop on this percussion-heavy beat. Together they pulled off a cool, but brooding single. It feels like the haunted house you just can’t help but going inside. For fans of any sort of electronic music or hip-hop, this is going to be your weekend treat. JETSET and osotyt’s “Rain” is out now, but you heard it here first in this Music Ninja premiere.

[Hip-Hop] Renz Young – More Pressure

Renz Young
More Pressure

If you’re looking for a solid hip-hop jam to take with you into the weekend, then you’ve got what you’re looking for here. Renz Young dropped his single “More Pressure” through Litt Music and it’s just about as hot as it gets. Rap in its true form, this single is just what the genre needs to show some of these cats what’s up.

Renz Young keeps it flaming hot with some lyrics that might burn your speakers up if you’re not too careful. The beat is absolutely ill as well, laying the base for Renz to come in and do his thing. It’s one of those tracks that you will put on repeat and listen intently so you can nail down each syllable of the lyrics. Then you’ll be firing off the lyrics yourself alongside Renz. “More Pressure” is the only pressure you need.

Off the heels of Outside Lands, an incredible set from Washed Out in Oakland and escalating social turmoil, I had a wide array of music to share on this week’s episode–from the left field hip-hop of ZGTO to Photay‘s infectious electronica to straight disco bliss from Folamour and Moon Boots. There’s a lot going on in the world right now and I hope this injection of diverse tunes helps you get through the week!
