[Hip-Hop] Hoody Time – Jawn

Hoody Time keeps the cool tunes rolling out with his new single “Jawn.” Hip-hop’s pineapple king dishes out a smooth original that features 184 rhymes in just under five minutes, as well as a sample that some Harry Potter fans just might recognize.

Sure, there’s more to it than those things, and those other parts are equally as delectable. “Jawn” showcases Hoody Time’s cool rhyme schemes that have taken fans by surprise. Ever since launching the project, his artistry has been without fault. Whether it’s atop a dance instrumental, or a hot beat like this, Hoody always manages to entertain with wit, as well as charm. With all these singles, we can expect it’s building up to something special. We can only bet it will be as sweet as the pineapple’s that Hoody’s image is tied to. In today’s electronic music scene I don’t think we see enough full-length albums or EP’s. There’s just something great about coming back to a collection of songs and listening to it front to back. Jon Santana, an up-and-comer out of Nashville, just released a five track EP. And it is one of those records. I wanted to showcase my favorite song, the outro single, NY90. It’s by far the most hip-hop influenced song on here, with some excellent bars by Lox Chatterbox. But head over to the playlist to stream the full album, And There They Were. There’s lots to explore, from big electronic singles to a few more low key instrumentals.

RL Grime is back with his 5th installment of his Halloween mix and it far exceeds our expectations, which is no easy task, given the pedigree of these annual treats. It’s the weekend before Halloween. This means you’re going to (most likely) be out partying to celebrate the holiday. We want you to be safe, but also have as much fun as you can. Part of the fun is going to consist of good music; that’s where we come in. Ash Riser is not one of those emcees who is just in it for the glory. He’s here to respect the art of rap in the long term, and has continuously put out dope records, including his latest “Smile, Wave & Laugh.”

The Los Angeles poet pushed out this free download earlier in the week. Produced by Tae Beast, “Smile, Laugh & Wave” is the admission of Ash’s attitude towards the entertainment industry dynamics that, more often than not, develop fake interests and two-faced individuals. Politics is everywhere, and the music industry is certainly not exempt, especially in the bright lights and sunshine of Southern California. That hasn’t stopped Ash, whose multi-faceted career has put him in front of thousands of industry figures in multiple domains. Through it all he’s kept his grind, his grit, and his artistry.
