[Denver Event Preview] TMN Presents: Aaron Bordas w/ Robotic Pirate Monkey – 9/21 – Larimer Lounge

TMN Presents
Aaron Bordas @ Larimer Lounge - Denver, CO

Over the past five years in the city of Denver, we’ve had the pleasure of putting on some of the most memorable and eclectic slate of electronic, indie, rock and hip-hop shows that the Mile High City has ever seen under the ‘TMN Presents’ banner. From bands and artists including the likes of Hayden James, The Knocks, Small Black, Teen Daze, Autre Ne Veut, ASTR and loads more; it was high time that we shifted our focus to the bevy of incredible local talent that Denver and Colorado as a whole have to offer. And so, it is with great anticipation that we unveil our next ‘TMN Presents’ night as we bring ascending Denver based Techno/House producer & DJ Aaron Bordas with special guests Robotic Pirate Monkey to the always welcoming and ultra raucous Larimer Lounge on Friday, September 21st.

With numerous local accolades under his banner and opening credits under some of electronic music’s most exciting names across a slew of genres, Aaron Bordas has rapidly risen from an excellent main-support act to a formidable headlining force in not just his home city, but the Western U.S. as a whole. 2017 saw the budding artist headline numerous clubs, enrapturing droves of fans in the process while pushing the boundaries of his production catalog as well with a release on Quite Right and two more in 2018 “11:16” and “Memory Lapse” in collaboration with fellow Colorado producer Dynohunter. The head of Aaron’s hypebeast is surely his excellent track curation and buzzed about shows, which have us and those who have witnessed a DJ set so excited for this show. To tune your ears in advance of our next showcase, be sure to check out Bordas’ mix series Reason and eclectically selected live sets as well.

It wouldn’t be a ‘TMN Presents’ night without at least a few of our fellow Ninjas in the building, so we’re gearing up to give away not one, but TWO pairs of tickets to Aaron Bordas’ show on September 21st, and entering is beyond simple. Just comment below (click on this post if you’re still on our front page) with the tagged friend that you’d want to take and BOOM, you’re entered.  For those who’d rather guarantee their entry, to which we HIGHLY recommend, grab your tickets from the link provided here. Until then, stream “As We Are” by Aaron Bordas above, help us spread the word, and we’ll see you all on the floor!

Traces (feat. IOLITE)

Oooooh boy, Finland’s firey talent Alisky dropped his debut single recently and it’s a hot one. The collaboration with IOLITE called “Traces” has us putting Alisky high on our lists of artists to watch. In one fell swoop he grabs our ears with both hands and forces us to pay attention to his talents.

It’s always great to see a new act debut and “Traces” couldn’t have been a better first step for the producer. He sets his tone with a dynamic house record that is as danceable as it is delightful. It starts off quick and doesn’t pull any punches for its entirety. “Traces” is a must have, so add it to your library today.

[Electronic] Mickey Kojak – Get Out

Australia’s Mickey Kojak went retro with his newest single “Get Out.” You won’t be leaving this one anytime soon as “Get Out” is a completely mesmerizing hit. Although we were loving his covers, it’s nice to hear Mickey jump on an original.

“Get Out” pulls from a variety of genres and eras and sews all the little pieces together into one beautiful piece. The single feels like it could have been released in the 70’s or 80’s only to stand the test of time as a song we continue to jam out to it today. Although it’s not a classic in that sense, it very well could be given time.

#TMNMailbag #6: Astrolemo

Aside from a simple blurb on Facebook and Soundcloud, there’s not much I can share with you about Astrolemo, the person. Self-described as somewhere between “a drug-free Flying Lotus and a spicy Bonobo,” this enigmatic character is purposefully hidden behind a moniker and the anonymity that only the web can provide.

What I can tell you, is that since starting the #TMNMailbag series, this is far and away the most impressive submission I’ve received. As he mentions, his art beckons on notable acts like Flying Lotus and Bonobo. Personally, I also notices comparisons that lean towards a few other personal favorites — Tycho and Absofacto.

Typically, I like to feature the song that the artist submitted, and that alone. Today, though, I’m showcasing his last EP, as well as his most recent single.

Kicking things off is his most recent offering, “Haunting Me” is a deep and enveloping experience. Starting off with haunting keys and (assumedly) Astrolemo’s captivating vocals, the tune provides a layered and textural listen from start-to-finish. It’s pleasantly dreary, lending itself to a harmony with a relaxing Sunday rainstorm.

Next up is the title track from his last EP, “Stay with Me.” A bit more upbeat than the former, the experience comes to life with glowing, echoing vocals, and danceable percussion. It has plenty of drive, yet still maintains that all-encompassing soundscape that embodies his sound.

As I’m sure you’re convinced at this point, I’ll stop yammering and leave you be with this tasty little collection. After you’re done, make sure to throw this budding young act a follow on Facebook and Soundcloud. As of right now, he has less than 500 on both accounts, meaning you’ll be an early adopter. Get on it.

Just a few days ago the Swedish producer Allertz dropped the new single “Brave” to the world. It is one of the many releases that are signaling the shift of sound to the more Spring/Summer friendly vibe. Although it’s among a stream of releases of people readying for the season, this one is among the top.

“Brave” shares an indie dance sound that is perfect for the upcoming pool parties – don’t be surprised if this one shows up while you’re at Miami Music Week if you happen to be going. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Allertz, but he’s coming back extremely strong with this original.
