CRSSD Fest 2016 Preview + Phase II Announcement

Beginning in February 2013, FNGRS CRSSD has brought the latest in what was once largely alternative electronic music. Providing a space for all electronic listeners to go to and love, the CRSSD festival at San Diego’s Waterfront Park has created one of the hottest dance parties on the West Coast.

Pairing up with Goldenvoice, FNGRS CRSSD launched their first CRSSD festival on March 14th and 15th of 2015. It was a highly anticipated event that was reveled by many and a dance wonderland for all. If vibes are your thing, this place is like the D-Land of vibes, ’cause vibes is the only word to describe what feels like a multi-thousand person picnic along the water with all of your favorite dance music, all happening in the presence of the trajectory of the San Diego sun which always ends with an epically beautiful sunset.
Since their first debut they delivered another iteration of the fest that was largely successful once again, and now we have the third and best CRSSD in our opinion to look forward to on March 5th and 6th at ol’ Waterfront. Their lineup is so, so solid, too, and they just released Phase 2 of it and it’s fantastic. It upped the quality even higher than it already was, and that was really exciting for us. They dove deep into some of our favorite labels around right now like Claude Vonstroke’s Dirtybird Records, and that’s gonna be great. With names like Odesza, Ryan Hemsworth, Bondax, Chet Faker, Gryffin (who we’re really excited to check out), Tale of Us, Claude Vonstroke, Tiga and J. Phlip, this is going to be a full and complete weekend that was more or less expected because CRSSD kills it with electronic in San Diego every time, and us native San Diegans are very appreciative of it. We’ve attached a playlist of some of the artists we’re most excited for.

The fest will be located at Waterfronk Park San Diego and start at 12 PM on both Saturday March 5th and Sunday March 6th. Tickets are on sale now and can be bought at Ticketfly here. For real, make sure you grab your tickets before they sell out. This stuff’s hot. The Ninjas will be there. See you there!

’Hayden James – Something About You (ODESZA Remix)’
’HI LO – Crank It Up’
’Marcus Marr & Chet Faker – The Trouble With Us’
’Death Cab for Cutie – The Ghosts of Beverly Drive (Tycho Remix)’
’Tale Of Us – North Star’
’HONOR – Never Off (Hot Since 82 Remix)’
’Rihanna – Bitch Better Have My Money (Claude VonStroke Remix – DJ Dub)’
’Sam Gellaitry – to earth and back’
’Skream – MALEFIC’
’Lane 8 – Midnight’
’REZZ – Edge’
’Sailor & I – Leave The Light On (Kidnap Kid Remix)’
’Ryan Hemsworth – Afterglow’
’Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons – We Will Return’
’Foals – Give It All (Bondax Remix)’

[House] Lane 8 – Midnight

Lane 8
Midnight

With the clarity of hindsight, it is apparent that Lane 8 went above and beyond to make his mark on 2015. In a year that saw, countless remixes, the release of his debut album Rise, an extensive touring schedule, and an interview with The Music Ninja, San Francisco’s own Lane 8 kept himself very busy.

In an attempt to start 2016 with the most consistent and diligent producers of the year, I made a point to attend Lane 8’s New Years Eve set at the annual Snowglobe Music Festival in Lake Tahoe. As the clock struck 12:00, the producer faded into an unfamiliar, minimalistic piece. As the song progressed, additional layers were introduced and the more familiar aspects of a Lane 8 production began to take shape. The uplifting, electronic song he premiered that night, without introduction, was released last week, titled “Midnight”.

The energy from this deep house masterpiece is infectious early on and continues to impress, through the subtle insertion of its many technical elements, for the full duration of 7 minutes. Lane 8 fans can stay up to date with his latest productions via Soundcloud or by catching him live on tour.
