[Artist Spotlight] EC Twins Drop Two New Singles, Label & Tour

It’s not often that twins end up making a break for the top of the music industry. Sure, we have NERVO, but now, on the male side, we have an act from the United Kingdom who are making waves. Brothers Marc and Allister, who make up EC Twins, are set to impact the industry in a big way, as they have recently made some moves on multiple fronts that will have their fan base growing exponentially in no time.

On the music front, the EC Twins recently dropped two singles, both for free. Each track was also released on the duo’s label, Twin Turbo Records, that was launched, and the imprint is slated to release much more music in the near future. For now, both “Number One” and “Won’t Let You Down” have been pushed, each being house tracks; however, the musical flavors each bring are a little different.

’EC Twins – “Number One”‘

EC Twins have the talents not only in the studio, but also when they play their live show. They’ve locked Las Vegas residencies, and currently have their No Apologies tour underway, so if you’re in any of the areas and have an open night, make sure to head over and experience what these two bring to the table.

’EC Twins – “Won’t Let You Down”‘

This year, the brothers have much more music planned, on top of more shows for their fans to experience. They’re looking to take a high spot on the DJ Mag Top 100 list when that rolls around, so be ready to cast your vote when the time comes. In the mean time, enjoy the tunes EC Twins brought forth, and don’t forget to download the juicy house goodness.

[Progressive House] Harvel B & Asalto – Dance With Lions

Harvel B & Asalto
Dance With Lions [OUT NOW]

“Dance With Lions” is the newest track on the Showland imprint, the brainchild of Swanky Tunes. The single was created by the partnership of Harvel B and Asalto, who blew us away with their progressive house original. The label’s nineteenth release has shaped up to be one of their biggest yet.

Harvel B and Asalto craft the perfect melodies to control the energy in each section of the song. With the chorus/drop being the most important to ravers and festival goers, they honed in and worked up a fantastically explosive one that will rattle crowds everywhere. “Dance With Lions” is now available for purchase on Beatport for those looking to nab it.

Zedd ft. Jon Bellion – Beautiful Now (Halogen Remix) [TMN PREMIERE]

Zedd ft. Jon Bellion
Beautiful Now (Halogen Remix)

Atlanta-based producer/DJ duo Halogen just keeps churning out impressive remixes, and today is no different from what we’ve seen in the past. This time around, these two have dialed up an energetic remix of Zedd’s “Beautiful Now,” which features vocalist Jon Bellion.

Still progressive in nature, “Beautiful Now” is elevated with bouncier beat that we’ve come to know and love from these two. Vocal samples have been chopped and rearranged in the intro, providing intrigue from the get go. From there, we’re lead through a progression of high octane, soaring synths and a driving piano melody.

For us, we see this as being a dance club-ready interpretation, varying from the anthemic nature of the original. We also could easily see Zedd using this in his set, especially ones at smaller venues where the energy would serve his fans well.

[Festival Review] Four Days In The Life of a Ninja at Movement Music Festival

movement

All photos copyright and courtesy of Matthew Reyer & Black Tuesday

Detroit’s fabled Movement Electronic Music Festival (formerly DEMF) was a visceral experience to say the least. From the sternum throttling bass kicks of the world’s loudest soundsystems designed exactly for all facets of dance music, the artificial crunch of plastic bottles and beer cans condensing beneath our feet in a warehouse basement at 5:00 a.m., to the general amounts of love from nearly every corner of the industry; we had an engaging and wonderful time. And with new owners Paxahau doing most everything in their ability to ensure a great Memorial Day Weekend, for the most part, the shows went off without a hitch.

Our team arrived late Friday night, and with still at least a couple of hours left in the evening to party before Movement’s official kick off the following afternoon, we headed to Detroit’s gritty warehouse district for an incredibly deep and storied lineup featuring both Moodyman and Theo Parrish taking us all to the Church of House through a vinyl only, eclectic set fusing neo-jazz, classic disco and plenty of contemporary house and techno without well… too much mixing really. It was certainly a throwback night in every sense, even an ode to Paradise Garage maestro Larry Levan style mixing. It was great to get back to our roots, stop being so damn critical, just enjoy a couple of dance music legends and set the stage for our weekend.
