[Dubstep/Electro/Moomba] Skrillex & Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley – Make It Bun Dem After Hours EP

Earlier this year, Skrillex, OWSLA founder and arguably the biggest name in the dubstep scene, released a reggae infused dubstep banger with the help of Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley. Now after a few months of letting the original bask in its well-deserved glory, Skrillex and his cohorts have prepared six diverse remixes of “Make It Bun Dem” as part of the Make It Bun Dem After Hours EP. The EP features remixes from the likes Culprate, David Heartbeat, Flinch, Brodinski, French Fries, and the elustrious Alvin Risk. All of the tracks are refreshingly unique interpretations of the original ranging in genres from trap to acid-house, so make sure to give the entire EP a listen to decide which is your favorite.

Also, as a bonus, I’ve included Poisound’s moombahcore remix of the original, which wasn’t featured on the EP but definitely packs a punch!

[Moombahton] Bro Safari – Uncrushable (Jay Fay Remix)

When I heard Dillon Francis drop this in his set at Hard Summer my jaw dropped. I was even more amazed when I saw that it came out 5 months ago and I had never heard it. Jay Fay, hailing from St. Louis, Mo., made my brain melt with this insane remix of Bro Safari‘s track “Uncrushable”. This is my kinda Moombahton, hard-hitting relentless filth, that could scramble anyones brain on the first listen. It’s tough to decide which drop I like more, but these squealing wobbles mixed with bleeping sirens make for one hell of banger. After having this track on repeat for the last few days I understand why Dillon used it in his set. Cheers.

[Dubstep] Dream – This Isn’t House EP

For months dubstep artist Dream a.k.a  Rowan Jones has been teasing bassheads all over the world with his newest tune “This Isn’t House”.  More recently, the track was incorporated into the soundtrack of the short video documentary Skrillex in South America. However, finally the wait is officially over. Just the other day Dream released his This Isn’t House EP on OWSLA. The EP consists of the original tune “This Isn’t House,” featuring mellow undertones that work alongside grimy bass line to create a solid dubstep banger. Also included is Flinch’s remix of the tune. Flinch compliments the chill vibes of the original by incorporating a small vocal sample throughout the track, while also adding some snarling bass giving the song a heavier dubstep feel. LoBounce provides his signature moombah-funk style to the tune, and Topher Jones creates a more house-like rendition, completely disregarding the name of the original. Be sure to give the entire EP and listen and don’t forget to support the artists on Beatport.

[Moombahton] Gent & Jawns – Holler EP

Around two months ago I was introduced to Gent & Jawns‘ “Holler” (Original Mix) and was immediately blown away. It’s a massively catchy song, full of booty-bouncing shakes and wobbles. Helped a little (ok, A LOT) by their collaboration with Diplo on his critically-acclaimed Express Yourself EP, Gent & Jawns seem to be having a good past couple of months.

“Holler” (Original Mix) can be found on Holler — an EP that solidifies this unstoppable duo’s position as one of the leaders of the massive moombah movement sweeping across every festival in the country. The Holler EP has another Gent & Jawns original called “Bugoff,” a big room-ready, 128 BPM sledgehammer of a track that is sexy and industrial at the same time. There are also two remixes included: Valentino Kahn‘s remix of “Holler” is a percussive masterpiece fattened and livened by tribal drums and horns, while David Heartbreak amps up the chorus to make it club-friendly.

If you are at all interested in the future of moombah, check out “Holler” (Original Mix) below and download the entire EP, out via Mad Decent/Jeffree’s, right here.

[Moombahton] La’Reda – Boombox ft. Ava Ali (Original Mix)

Summertime Bikini Dropper indeed! That is the only description under this Moombah banger’s Soundcloud page, and I agree that is all that is necessary. For those that are new to La’Reda, this duo, comprised of Brion Topolski & Nathan Barbour, are two electro house producers that are on a ridiculous spree of summer bangers. La’Reda has a good mix of electro sounds and underlying grooves that is the Latin-inspired moombah tone. Plus Ava Ali‘s vocals are a great subtle addition reminiscent of Yo-Landi Vi$$er vocals in Die Antwoord. Included below is another stellar track from La’Reda this summer, “Synthasorus Rex,” which, as you might’ve guessed, is heavy on the synth, blending smoothly as it moves from a fast pace progressive intro into a moombah drum style beat.

Ooah + LoBounce – Get Primal EP [Moombahton/Electro]

The Glitch Mob’s Ooah recently teamed up with beat crafting partner LoBounce to release their debut EP as a duo, Get Primal. Flaunting three high-energy moombahton tracks alongside one darker electro jam, the EP, as to be expected, very much embodies the glitch hop sound fans have grown to love from both artists. It is a true collaboration fusing deep basslines across multiple tempo ranges with their signature glitch hop sound. The lead single, “Trash Talk,” begins slowly and masterfully builds before dropping into a glitch infused moombahton banger. “Line of Fire,” my personal favorite, is an electro-influenced track that demonstrates how the funk and glitch aspects of these artists truly work in paramount on this EP to create a unique sound.  Give the EP a listen, snag the free download of the track “Peligrosa” and make sure to support the artists on beatport.
