[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #35

If you’re looking to start off your week in the most relaxing way possible, this installment of the Chill Dojo will be sure to deliver with some of the most mellow features to date.

It was looking to be a difficult decision for track of the week for #35 until the music of Dutch duo The Planty Herbs flowed through the speakers. ‘There’s Us” may just be the most chilled song ever to grace the dojo, and utilises a sound that epitomises the sensation that this playlist hopes to bring. It could be looped for hours on end and still maintain the same calming effect and amazing vibes it does upon first listen. From a song whose sound represents what we’re all about to one whose title does, the next tune, “Lazy Sunday” fortunately delivers on its promise to provide a killer Sunday feel. Mastefully crafted by German producer XTRAFUNK, a quick browse through his Soundcloud revealed a wealth of other great additions which carry similar feelings of bliss. If this has built up your cravings for disco vibes, then look no further than Louis La Roche to remedy your funky desires with his remix of the massive hit from Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding. It seems European artists are dominating the dojo this week, and Norway’s Cashmere Cat has become a definite favourite of late, and has seen his popularity skyrocket thanks to consistent displays of unique sounds and astounding production talent. For those of you who missed it in the Trap Dojo a little while ago, his latest remix of “Do You”  is an amazing mix of sexy synths and drumwork which work in pure harmony with the smooth vocals of Miguel.

There’s plenty more to write about this week, but this array of magical music is better heard than read, so delve into it at your own leisure. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #34

For many people, this week in April is one of the most laidback times of the year. It’s a time that goes hand in hand with the celebration of chill music, so look no further for those mellow tunes you desire.

Dojo number 34 kicks off with a amazingly funky beat from Lindsay Lowend, released under his alias Bib. ‘Take my Heart’ is a jam, plain and simple, packed with catchy vocal elements and magical chords to be consumed in high doses to leave you smiling. We go from an incredible beat to incredible bass courtesy of Watapachi remixing the soulful hit ‘Love You Down’. The original gets slowed down with an injection of 808’s and heavy bass to create a serious love trap anthem. While the mood is set, it’s only fitting to move into this next remix from NY producer Obey City, who creates a stunning atmospheric track filled with stunning drumwork and ethnic strings. Sizzlebird is another masterful user of string elements within his chillstep works, and he again puts it on full display with his latest free download ‘First Light’. Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon Remix Album was released for download this week, and one of the highlights of the stream was this next effort from Kastle, who utilises garage vibes and vocal transformation to showcase the skills that make him one of the top producers in the game.

The rest of the playlist should provide you with a fitting soundtrack to continue the chill vibes for the week ahead. Peace Out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #33

Where the Chill Dojo once meant trying to discover a collection of worthy songs to compile into a playlist, the objective has quickly changed into trying to keep up with the stack of amazing music that is being released week on week. It’s impossible to find and show everything, but what we do have is the best of what your ears should be listening to for this edition.

Though featuring only a few days ago on the site, Bondax’s incredible remix of ‘Open’ is that good it deserves another mention, as the track of the week no less. All the elements blend together perfectly to create a smooth euphoric journey through sound that can only be described as pure vibes.  We’re staying soothing and soulful for the time being with the next song from NY trio Wet. Stellar vocals and production are on full display in this tune which will no doubt be stuck in your head all week. Our next two come from Canadian producer Teen Daze and his latest EP, The House on the Mountain. A mixture of blissful acoustic and electronic sounds combine for the kind of music to induce that floating feeling, and it’s a truly special moment to enjoy. Speaking of magical combinations, French producers Darius and Le Crayon teamed up on the funky masterpiece ‘Alicia’, filled with tropical flavour that longs to be played out at the Summer parties to come. And while we’re in that chill house mood, definitely don’t sleep on the latest from dojo favourite Lane 8. It’s been a big week for Crywolf with his recent Ghosts EP proving successful on the charts, and with the calibre of the two downtempo features we have on our playlist, it’s not hard to see why. To top off the list of must-listen releases, we’ve also included some more of those funky jams which have quickly become a staple of the dojo thanks to names like FloFilz and IAMNOBODI.

So there you have the update to tide you over for another week. If you only have so much time to discover new music, make sure to keep it chill. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #32

Sometimes there are those moments in life where time seems to be moving too fast and it’s a constant race against the clock to get things done. These are often the times when we need to slow things down, take a breath, and take another look at things with a clear head. If you can relate, then this stress-busting playlist is dedicated to you.

We start things off with some slow disco magic from 5 reasons, who provides the perfect tune for a city drive as the warmer weather kicks in. Amazing vibes, dreamy vocals and plenty of groove tick all the boxes for the track of the week. Filling similar criteria is the next feature from UK duo Psychemagik, adding some smooth synths to take the funky original to another level of danceability. Speaking of impressive transformations, dojo favourite Le Youth lets loose a dancefloor-ready remix of Jakwob’s emotional original in a style you wouldn’t imagine possible.  Australian producer Flex Cop is another honourable mention on the list of dance-worthy music this week, with a stunning deep-house original that works in the vocals from ‘No Diggity’ with great success. Plenty of chill trap to also enjoy this week, with some eclectic remixes of Cashmere Cat coming off their recent Mirror Maru Remix Ep and another unique take on a Rudimental original coming from Two Inch Punch. The latter end of the playlist then moves into a nice selection of chillstep with familiar names in Faraway Skies, who delivers an amazing remix of Seven Lions, and Sizzlebird, who proudly released his much anticipated Alive EP. It’s been a while since we’ve ended the playlist with something a little different, so we’ve thrown in a bit of smooth jazz for good measure, because who the hell doesn’t like that?

Hopefully we’ve down our part in alleviating some of the stress from your life this week. It’s not often we take the time to give ourselves the rest we need. Peace out.

You can’t believe everything you read on the internet on April 1st, and as tempting as it was to pull a cheeky stunt, there’ll be no fooling around with this week’s Chill Dojo. Coming off the back of a hectic long weekend, many of you will just be looking to relax before the grind begins again, and we will be your trusted source as always.

And just the track to set the mood is this charming atmospheric delight from UK’s Boy Kid Cloud off his latest EP. This is rainy day music at its best with enchanting vocals and all round stellar production. Aussie producer DCUP was also out with a new EP this week, and ‘Caramel’ stood out as a definite must for this playlist. It’s one of those tunes that makes all life’s stresses simply melt away. So it turns out a mere 15 seconds of Daft Punk is all it takes to spawn a mass of remixes as people worldwide eagerly await the new album, but thankfully the chill Spaniard Obenhaus delivers a funky edit which stays true to the vibes of the original and will help fans get through another week of counting down. We’ve thrown in a few more downtempo jams from this dojo newcomer as well for good measure, so don’t sleep on them either. Lane 8 also makes a return to this week’s edition with his latest remix of Fenech Soler, providing some mellow house magic to help you drift away.

While that’s the playlist covered for this week, we definitely recommend you check out the latest free compilation, Dusty Milk Crates Vol.3, which is an absolute must download for lovers of the jammin’ beats we often feature. There’s plenty of dojo favorites amongst the names, with artists like IAMNOBODI, Moods, and Vanilla. Get on it! Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #30

Seems crazy to think we’ve already hit another milestone with 30…30 Chill Dojos (insert Sesame Street Count laugh here). There’s always the desire to deliver a playlist fitting for the occasion, and luckily this week has seen enough amazing music to compile a mammoth edition of 30 tracks! There’s a heap of amazing talent on show here, so let’s waste no time and dive straight in.

Garage vibes are the flavor of the week, and when it comes to this style there’s no doubt the UK does it best. No idea how we slept on this remix of ‘Attracting Flies’ from Shift Key, but we’re making up for it by placing it on top as the absolute must-listen this week. This is a style that is so easy to love, and luckily UK group Clean Bandit keep similar vibes flowing with their official remix for the forthcoming Rudimental album, Home.  And there’s no way we can talk UK garage without the latest from Kidnap Kid who continues to pump out dancefloor-ready magic. Dancefloor and magic did you say? No apologies for this terrible segue, but that leads perfectly into the newest Viceroy release, which of course is oozing with that summer feeling. If that wasn’t enough excitement for one week, another dojo favorite in Shook also let loose a groovy funkalicious jam just a few days ago, and has been heavy on replay ever since. In addition, there’s more dancey tunes courtesy of Drop Out Orchestra, Cassian, and Kaytranada, more infectious beats from Moods and Mr. Carmack, plus another freebie from Sizzlebird, who rarely goes a week without another mention in the dojo.

The rest is yours to discover, so take your time and wind down in the best way possible. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #29

So in case you didn’t know, Ultra was this weekend. If you’re reading this post on Sunday, it’s more than likely that you’re not there. If so, you have two options:

1. Continue to check your Facebook news feed and feel immense jealousy for your friends that are there and regret that you are not there.

2. Throw away your phone for the day, sit back, and relax to this ultra chill playlist instead.

If you’re still reading, congrats on picking option number two. Your prize is gracing your ears with standout track of the week, the smoothest remix of ‘Suit & Tie’ courtesy of Aussie beatmaker Ta-Ku. Funky beats and groovy synths will put all thoughts of raging festivals out of your mind, and make you wonder why JT never took this direction with the original to begin with. And while your mind is wandering away, make sure to soak up the next few serene selections, including a summer-infused Goldroom classic from Wax Nostalgic, and a slice of aural paradise from Swiss producer Dinka’s latest Closer EP. Rameses B hits us with some gorgeous liquid dnb, while Sizzlebird again showcases another beautiful feature, ‘Life Eclipse’ from his forthcoming Alive EP, which is sure to contain many more like it. Fellow UK dojo favourite, Maths Times Joy also previewed his stunning remix of DrDr, which blends those stunning vocals with magical swirling pads to perfection. There’s also some fresh trap reworks of big name tracks from Flume and Ellie Goulding, as well as plenty of unique beats to vibe to as always.

So forget about what everyone else is doing and whatever is going on at this point in time in the world. You’re hear now, so just enjoy the moment. Peace out.
