[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #28

Whether you need a reason to smile or are just looking to put the icing on a great week gone by, this edition of the Chill Dojo is sure to do just that. We’re kicking things off with plenty of bright, happy tunes so that feel-good sensation is flowing fresh through your speakers.

Norweigian disco duo Lemâitre released their much anticipated Relativity 3 EP this week and the final track ‘Cut To Black’ is an absolute gem. Gorgeous chords, a relaxing beat and poppy vocals come together to make this a sweet delight, the definite highlight for this playlist and the perfect way to start the mood off right. And while we’re feeling that disco vibe, what better way to continue than with this groovy dancefloor-ready take on ‘Suit & Tie’ from Aeroplane, made only the way Europeans know how. JT’s vocals have never sounded so good on the top of this mix which is just too damn fun. Let’s throw in some tropical elements now with none other than Goldroom and his latest single ‘Only You Can Show Me’ which is everything you’ve come to expect from the producer that can make the coldest of days feel like summer. And speaking of summer, if you somehow slept on our feature of Ryan Hemsworth’s masterful rework of the Lana Del Ray hit, we’ve added it in the mix as one of this week’s best chill tracks. It’s always amazing to hear how well-known songs can be transformed with a bit of mellow treatment, and that is definitely the case when it comes to UK beatmaker Handbook’s downtempo trap interpretation of ‘I Could Be the One’ which will have those vocals stuck in your head for days.

As always, the playlist will span through some chillstep and plenty of relaxing beats so kick back and enjoy the selection. You’re sure to crack a smile many times over. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #27

By now, it’s safe to assume that if you’ve been following the Chill Dojo for a while, you already have a handy repertoire of artists you’ve begun to follow. If there’s one thing we can provide beyond a weekly playlist to vibe to, it’s the discovery of new names you wouldn’t have heard of otherwise, which is a beautiful thing for everyone involved. There are plenty of dojo favourites returning again this week, and it shouldn’t be too hard for these songs to immediately jump off the page.

And if there’s one name that should immediately grab your attention on any playlist, it’s Shook, whose remix of Ghost Beach delivers those signature summer poolside vibes to convincingly stamp himself for track of the week. The groovy house feelings continue with another regular in Lane 8, releasing a mellow sequel to ‘The Voice’ which hits all the right notes. A little chillstep now to slow things down a touch, and when there’s chillstep, you just know there’s going to be Sizzlebird. ‘Alive’ will soon be released as part of an EP sharing the same name, which will no doubt contain many more relaxing gems from this amazing producer. This week also delivers a nice selection of chill trap to enjoy, starting with a gorgeous remix from WiSkiM, and continuing onto plenty more sexy beats to carry you away. Speaking of beats, there’s also some new tunage from our favourite European groovemakers in Moods and FloFilz, so prepare yourself to experience the involuntary body movements that they inevitably bring forth.

Again, if you’re a regular dojo visitor, these names will all speak for themselves. All that’s left to do is sit back and soak it in. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #26

The 26th edition of the Chill Dojo by all calculations marks exactly half a year since it first began. Since then, it’s definitely grown from being a humble collection of various mellow tunes to a mighty playlist with regular names, diverse genres and plenty of free downloads to add your collection. This week is a celebration of all those achievements, with 25 songs to vibe to, which is what it will always be about.

So let’s start this party with a track that has gained quite a bit of attention this week and is certainly well deserving of the prestigious track-of-the-week honours, ‘Skylarking’. Trance is a genre quite foreign to the Chill Dojo, but veteran artist BT has masterfully crafted something that can only be described as a musical experience, spanning over ten minutes of joyful bliss. If you want to lose yourself in sound today, this is the way to do it. Moving on now, and there are certain songs that will automatically be in strong contention for a dojo appearance no matter the countless remixes that have already featured (cough Goldroom’s ‘Fifteen’ cough). Well ‘Gold’ by Bondax is another title that holds that same prestige, and when you have a remix by none other than dojo favourite Moon Boots, you have yourself a surefire winner. Those smooth synths together with that infectious voice…so good. And speaking of Brits with addictive sounds, Kidnap kid is another name quickly making his mark on the dojo, pumping out some slick playful beats that will no doubt get you smiling and dancing along in little time. The next few in the list provide some stellar chill trap tunage, with remixes of big names and singles like Baby Bash’s RnB classic ‘Suga Suga’, Zedds’ ‘Clarity’, and ‘Stay’ by Rihanna. But as good as it is to find mellow takes on popular songs, it’s even more rewarding to discover hidden gems from artist you encounter for the first time, like this unique jam from UK producer Congi. Sometimes it only takes one song to fall in love with an artist’s sound, and this is definitely one to do it. There is plenty more that can be written about this week, but is best experienced via the play button than any written word.

With all that said, make sure to explore everything on offer and reap the rewards of the dojo’s journey so far. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #25

Valentines Day meant the music world was very much into the lovin’ spirit this week, which fortunately provides plenty of mellow tracks to enjoy with your special someone. If our Valentines Playlist ignited your lust for smooth tracks, then the Chill Dojo will look to continue to satisfy, now and in the weeks to come. After all, this sort of music isn’t just for one day a year, so make it a habit to keep your playlists fresh.

Before we kick into the baby-makers, we couldn’t help but start things in an upbeat mood with 3 house tracks that are pure vibes. The first comes from German duo, Tube & Berger, who combine intricate guitar flair with a silky beat with infectious results. Our next track sees TMN favourite Classixx make a triumphant return to the dojo with a dreamy dancefloor groover, followed by a deep house jam from veteran singer/producer team The Foreign Exchange. Valentines Day is a day of giving, and a song from the heart is pretty much the top when it comes to gifts, which is exactly what Deadmau5 was pleasantly surprised with this week. A special Valentines edit of ‘GhostsnStuff’ courtesy of his fiance Katherine Von Drachenberg and producer Danny Lohner was uploaded to his Soundcloud and it is sublime. Ok, now that the vibes have been properly established, it’s time for the trap love-makers, starting with the ultimate song to set the mood right, ‘Climax’, with sex levels amped up even higher thanks to an incredible remix from Lindsay Lowend. Mashup experts The Hood Internet keep the flame burning with a masterful mix of Miguel, Shlohmo and RL Grime. However, this is the Chill Dojo, so we also can’t forget to break things up with some new beats from FloFilz, and of course two new freebies from our favourite chillstep provider in Sizzlebird. Things will then proceed to get a little deep and spaced out from here on out, until we conclude this week’s playlist with a playful jam in ‘Music for Fun’.

So it really doesn’t matter what activities you choose to engage in while the Chill Dojo is playing, just make sure to keep the music flowing. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #24

It can be pretty tricky to try and organise the chill playlist into the best tracks of the week while still grouping together similar styles to create a smooth flowing mix for your Sunday. Luckily finding the music itself is the easy part, with standout tunes continuing to amaze week after week…

…And our favourite track of Chill Dojo #24 does just that, with an insanely funky remix of the-one-and-only Michael Jackson’s ‘Remember The Time’ from a master of groove in Louis La Roche. The UK producer preserves the essence of the timeless classic and reinvigorates it with a sexy bass that takes it to another level. Fittingly being released on Valentines Day, whether you care for the occasion or not, this one is definitely one to have on rotation this week. Maintaining that same groove is our next feature from French artist Vanderway. A lack of French prevents any further information of this, but the vibes in this music is something that transcends any language barrier. Another classic gets a modern twist from Portugese moombahsoul craftsman King Kong, bringing back the gorgeous voice of Rn’B artist Mya into a soulful delight. Recent dojo favourite FloFilz again returns this week with some more oldschool beats, with some more jams following from IAMNOBODI and Dj Martz (which is quite a deviation from his usual dubstep productions). Another artist trying something a little different this week is MitiS, delivering a beautiful downtempo tune as a refreshing break from his bass-heavy ways. The second half of the playlist sees the tempo pick up with some superbly mellow house from big names in Kidnap kid, Satin Jackets, Claptone and Moon Boots.

Whether you need a playlist for that special someone or just want to sit back and relax, the Chill Dojo has you covered for sure. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #23

Hope you have set aside some quality time to spend with the Chill Dojo this week because a mass discovery of tracks has provided the biggest playlist in the series so far! If so, sit back and enjoy the 25 tunes specially arranged to take you through a journey of mellow sounds and good vibes.

We start with two magical vocal mixes from two different producer duos. The first comes from French act Employee Of The Year, who infuse the dancey original with a super sexy bassline and pads, with touches of beautiful piano chords throughout. A large amount of time on this playlist will probably be spent replaying this song alone. The next is a fresh take on the Lana Del Ray hit by UK team Toyboy & Robin, applying some deep house influences to create some serious vibes on this one. From here, the playlist moves through the motions, with some generous helpings of the jazzy beats that we’ve increasingly featured of late thanks to discoveries like FloFilz. More downtempo music follows with familiar names in Monitor 66 and Satin Jackets, before grooving into some upbeat jams to bring a bit of tropical shine to your Sunday afternoon courtesy of some features from the latest Solé Fixtape from none other than Goldroom (who by the way, if you are not following on Instagram, should do so immediately). We conclude this week’s mix again with another freebie from our favourite chillstep craftsman Sizzlebird. Enough praises have surely been sung by now, you know what to do.

Lots to take in this week’s mix. We’d love some feedback on the playlist while you listen and tell us what style you’ve grown to love the most in our weekly editions, or what you hope to hear more of.  Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #22

When trying to think of a prelude for this week’s edition of the Chill Dojo, emotion was the key word that stuck in mind. Emotion is everything in music, from laid-back slices of serenity to powerful trance-inducing melodies and vocals. For this playlist we’ll have you riding both ends of the spectrum and everything in between, so sit back and enjoy.

We kick things off on a bright and joyful note with this charming feel-good rework of the popular Bondax tune courtesy of UK beatmakers Snakehips. It’s such a fun, smooth jam that will light up even the gloomiest day with positive feelings all round. We next move on to dubstep veteran Jakwob to abruptly thrust you onto the opposite end of  the scale now. His forthcoming release, ‘Fade’, incorporates masterful drumwork, gorgeous vocals and beautiful piano melodies to gently tug at the heartstrings in what results as an absolutely stellar production. Melbourne girl Chela is another name that springs to mind when it comes to stunning chill vocals, and she lends this incredible talent to Viceroy’s latest tropical smash, ‘Dream of Bombay’. Now stop…it’s smooth beats time, and who better to bring this week’s dose of funk than names like Vanilla, FloFilz, Majestry, and siik. And if you thought the groove stopped there, Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat is there to pick it back up with a pair of creative bodyshakers. There’s also some more JT love this week coming from Chrome Wolves, and some new stuff from familiar names in Goldroom and Lane 8. We often like to end each week’s playlist with a bit of a treat, and that’s exactly what we have in store again with the title track off Sizzlebird’s new album, One World. Now whether you’ve been following the Chill Dojo for a while or just recently hopped on board, you’ll know this is a pretty big deal and that it’s pretty much a definite no-brainer to go and buy this album now. Listen to the full stream here if you need any further convincing.

And so that ends the long and eventful journey on the emotional rollercoaster for this week. Make sure to grab your freebie showbag on the way out. Peace out.
