[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #8

When settling into your Sunday afternoon, could there be anything better than 10 of the chillest tracks of the week flowing through your speakers? The answer is yes, and that’s 15 of the best chill tracks. Last week’s post highlighted the steady stream of mellow tunes floating across the web lately, providing plenty of sources for amazing music. Well that stream has turned into a flood, so this dojo is now 50% more chill for even greater value on the best damn day of the week.

This playlist sees everything coming in pairs. Our first two tracks provide some gorgeous chillstep, with UK producer Isoline receiving the prestigious track-of-the-week honours for his absolutely beautiful remix of ‘Youth’. The acoustic elements over the hypnotic vocals are a seriously magical combination that will see the replay button hit repeatedly for a while to come. Things then speed up with two funky nu-disco jams courtesy of Two Moons and Le Nonsense who inject some welcome french touch into this week’s edition.  As always, it wouldn’t be the Chill Dojo without a splash of summer, brought to you this time by RotKraft’s enchanting take on one of Goldroom’s best, and a nautical instrumental from UK disco fiend Edwin van Cleef.  Next up are two different yet equally chill interpretations of Flume’s “Sleepless” by Australian artists, Brisbane producer Charles Murdoch going for a more future garage style while Sydney’s Cosmo&Paat take the chillstep route. Also within the mix of pairs in this instalment come two takes on Strange Talk’s “Cast Away” by Vindata and Plastic Plates, another duo of remixes of The xx, and a couple of classic Skream tracks recently released as part of his 100k Freeizm EP. We couldn’t find a suitable partner for our final feature, but fortunately Ray Complex produces a quality tune that should satisfy your trap desire all on its own.

So grab the extra beefy zip of free downloads below and don’t forget to check out last week’s dojo if you missed all the freebies from edition 1 until now. Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #7

Each week there continues to be a healthy stream of chill tracks floating across the web, providing no shortage of potential additions to our Sunday playlist. You can be sure that as long as this river keeps flowing, we’ll keep bringing you the best discoveries so that every Sunday can be enjoyed as it should be.

Speaking of constant sources of mellow tunes, Chill Dojo favourite Gigamesh gave us another two stellar tracks within the space of only three days. When you put his name to a remix of Two Door Cinema Club, you know you’re about to hear something special, and that is definitely the case here with the producer putting his signature disco spin on the original. We already featured his recent edit of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” a few days ago, but it’s just so laid-back that we couldn’t resist giving it another mention. Tropical vibes are always a winner when it comes to song choice for this dojo, and this week’s dose of summer magic is brought to you by NY production duo Follow Me and their soothing remix of Alison Valentine’s single “Peanut Butter”.  Moving on to a different style now, 19 year old producer Different Sleep delivers an absolute trap delight with his remix of “Alone” by JMSN, matching the vocals perfectly with a beat that is just plain sex. Another standout this week comes courtesy of New Zealand producer Cross Them Out with a gorgeous chillstep arrangement which incorporates so many brilliant elements that will reach out and touch your soul. This song makes you float on a wave of serenity unlike anything I’ve heard before. Lastly, we have included a few tracks from The Stars EP by UK producer Catching Flies. The highlight of the bunch is definitely the title feature “The Stars,” a name influenced by the stunning sampling of Coldplay vocals layered across those hypnotic pads. Once again, there is so much to enjoy in this week’s selection, and I’m continually blown away by the amazing music that has been gracing my speakers of late. This stuff is made to be shared, so let the chill vibes spread.

On that note, to make things even easier for you, we’ve included zips of all the free downloads from week 1 until now, and will continue to provide this convenient package from here on out. Enjoy ninjas! Peace out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #6

It’s that time you’ve all been waiting for once again, when all the week’s worries can disappear at the click of a mouse. The most satisfying part of assembling the Chill Dojo each week is that the collection isn’t restricted by genre or defined by its bpm. The tracks you hear are chosen for the feeling they invoke, a sensation where nothing else matters but the gorgeous melodies and beats flowing from your speakers. So without further ado, it’s time to tap into that feeling once again.

There was no doubt to what earned its spot as track of the week for this edition, with KOAN Sound’s remix of “Green & Blue” from the upcoming Halo 4 soundtrack being one of our most popular features on the site over recent days. Regardless of whether you’re a fan of the game series or not, this is a beautifully mellow creation from the duo that are widely known for their heavy glitch-infused bass. Another standout in this collection comes courtesy of Alex Mcghee, who takes the very unique “Telemiscommunications” from deadmau5’s recently released album, >Insert Album Title Here<, and infuses it with some wobbly goodness while still maintaining a super chill feeling. Le Youth once again slides in this week with another dance tune oozing tropical vibes which is now up for free download. Other worthy mentions go to another usual suspect to the Chill Dojo, Satin Jackets, as well as an amazing bootleg of “Sunset” by The xx which will make you fall in love with the song even more than you originally thought possible. It’s another diverse arrangement dished up in this installment, all connected by the one aim to make your Sunday as laid-back as can be. Peace out.

Tired? Stressed? 9 out of 10 doctors recommend The Chill Dojo as the most effective drug-free cure for whatever plagues you this Sunday. The 10th doctor suggested we buy some of the home-made herbal remedy he has growing in his basement, but we wouldn’t trust it. What you can count on though is this week’s selection of good vibrations guaranteed to keep it chill once again.

Kicking off this week is some magic chillstep from Rameses B, meshing together the gorgeous vocals of Zoë Philips with hypnotic basslines and melodies to create something that is impossible not to fall in love with. With submissions recently opening up for Flume’s ‘Sleepless’ Remix Contest, LA producers Vindata have thrown their hat in the ring with a slowed down version of the mellow original which infuses it with some extra bass and trap beats. Speaking of trap, after consistent features in the weekly trap dojo, prodigy ∆lex Young makes his debut here with something different to his usual style, but perfectly suited to this Sunday playlist. This chill dojo also features some other notable names in the trap scene, with Bauuer and SWEATER BEATS putting their mellow side on display. We conclude things this week with a unique spin on “Make It Bun Dem,” with Dreadsquad cutting through the oversaturation of filthy bass-loaded remixes using live instruments and an infectious reggae vibe, which in hindsight, was always the perfect direction to take the original.

This is the prescription to get you through this week so make sure to take regular doses when required. Peace out.

Our first feature sets the standard for vibe we’re looking for this week, with German artist Satin Jackets reworking the soothing voice of Aaliyah into a tropical disco masterpiece. Next stop on the chill train brings us to an exclusive download of a track off Breakbot’s forthcoming album, By Your Side, set to release on the 21st. Picking up the tempo a little now, our final highlight is from LA producer Classixx, who remixes Gossip into a superbly mellowed out track. There are so many intricate elements and layers at work here, all merging as one to encourage some serious downtime. [MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #2

Weekdays are for grinding, Saturdays are for raging, and Sundays were made to just sit back and chill. There couldn’t be a simpler recipe to life than that, and there couldn’t be a simpler way to assemble a perfect Sunday playlist than the second instalment of the Chill Dojo. Following up on the standard set by the inaugural edition, another host of pleasant tunes await for all those who have waited all week for some serious downtime.

Shook again features amongst the standout tracks for this dojo with the recent release of his remix for jazz/soul singer Rhian Benson. The smooth lyrics are complemented beautifully by the production here, and there’s no doubt that Shook will be a prominent name in future chill collections. Major Lazer’s ‘Get Free’ already defines serenity when it comes to music, and the original is pretty close to untouchable where remixes are concerned. Nevertheless, Puerto Rican producer Mendez has managed to craft a stunning rework which brings a little more danceability while still retaining all the elements that make the original perfect. Finally, to mix in a bit of bass to your chill experience, Cry Wolf offer us a remix of ‘Ballad Of Broken Birdie Records’ that could well be the soundtrack to your dreams tonight. Have a peek at the video of the live edit to be further amazed at the quality of the production behind this one. In addition to that, there are plenty of soulful tunes to be discovered here, both old and new, so kick back and enjoy. As always, don’t be afraid to follow those links to what may just reveal a free download. Peace out.
