Wavedash & Quest – Star Power (AWE Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Around a month ago Wavedash released their collaboration with Quest called “Star Power” on the Devil Music EP. The song is still being rinsed by DJ’s all over, but now they have a new remix to match it with thanks to LA’s own AWE.

Premiered right here in the dojo, AWE’s hybrid “Star Power” has been released by Mad Zoo. AWE keeps the heavy nature of the original intact, but he implements his own eclectic dose of sounds into the mix. Aside from the dirty sound design, AWE builds an industrial tone throughout the song that gives it a savage edge, making it a festival gem. It’s much more than that though as you’ll see near the end. Don’t forget to add this one to your digital library.

FINNEAS – Landmine (Aire Atlantica Remix) [TMN Premiere]

FINNEAS
Landmine (Aire Atlantica Remix)

LA-based singer/songwriter FINNEAS has been reaching incredible heights at such a young age, both in his music and performances. Not to mention that he’s also currently on tour with his multi-talented sister, Billie Eilish. With his success consistently climbing and his fanbase steadily increasing, it’s no surprise that his music – namely his recent single “Landmine“- caught the attention of up and coming producer, Aire Atlantica.

Springing off of the momentum he received from his last release, “Cut You Off,” the NY-native decides to provide his own take on FINNEAS’ upbeat pop original. The remix however, is not for the faint of heart. Aire Atlantica reels listeners in almost instantly with energizing snares that pave the way for a cinematic build up right before he introduces the main course, an amalgamation of electrifying glitches, funk-inspired beats and harmonic layers. His eclectic style of production makes for an unparalleled chemistry with FINNEAS’ modulated voice as it molds effortlessly around every word. Emitting just as much heat as this season’s sun, it goes without saying that Aire’s remix will be one of your go-to plays this Summer.

[Dubstep] A$AP Ferg – Plain Jane (WILDLYF Remix)

ASAP Ferg
Plain Jane (WILDLYF Remix)

Holy f***. As much as we’d like to leave it at that, we’re gonna have to talk about this epic WILDLYF remix. The Australian producer has some jaw-dropping hits on his hands, but this one may be his most ferocious yet. He took on “Plain Jane” by the one and only A$AP Ferg and did it justice 100 times over.

Even if you’re not into hip-hop, you know this original. It’s a major tune whose remix duties shouldn’t be taken lightly. WILDLYF just went off on it, pushing his sound further into the dubstep territory with gigantic bass growls that will rip your speakers apart if you’re not too careful. If we could, we’d make the safe bet that you’d be hearing this one all throughout festivals this season. And lastly, it’s a free download – grab it!

[Electronic] Khalid & Normani – Love Lies (Medasin Remix)

Khalid & Normani
Love Lies (Medasin Remix)

The Khalid approved remix of “Love Lies” by Medasin has been released on Soundcloud. If you were looking for a major flip with just the right vibe to kick it over Summer, then you’ve found it here.

Medasin is following up from his flip of Post Malone. The two remixes share a somewhat similar sound, but the new take of the Khalid x Normani collaboration is a bit chiller with some more groove. It’s not always that a remix reaches the original artist and then they co-sign it, but that’s just what we’ve got with this hit. As good as this one is and as much as we’d like to rinse it for months to come, expect to hear more from Medasin soon!

Boy Bjorn – Anchorage (Foreign Fields Remix) [TMN PREMIERE]

Boy Bjorn
Anchorage (Foreign Fields Remix)

Sometimes it takes the most intense moments in our lives to set us on a different path. I’m sure all of you can identify a singular point in your past that sparked a significant change. Whether it was wonderful, painful, or somewhere in-between, it’s a common thread through the human experience.

For Brian Holl (aka Boy Bjorn), that life-altering moment came at SXSW in 2015. As a member from the previously heralded electronica-folk duo Foreign Fields at the time, Holl experienced a panic attack that would alter his course, both in life, and in music, after experiencing early successes of national touring, festival appearances, and a critically-acclaimed debut album.

Now, 18 months later, Holl is ready to delve back into the musical world, and in addition to returning to Foreign Fields, he’s also doing so under the moniker of Boy Bjorn. The debut release, “Anchorage,” dropped not too long ago. It’s enveloping, with a buzz that calls on associations of Postal Service, Owl City, and of course, elements of Foreign Fields. While I strongly suggest adding it to your playlist, we’re actually here today to bring you a glimpse at the first remix of this single, coming via none other than Holl’s partner in Foreign Fields, Eric Hillman.

Beautifully composed, this take is a long-building and emotional ride, focusing heavily on Holl’s heartfelt lyrics for the majority of the ride. It’s slow, and intentionally so, utilizing soft keys and strings from the original and layered, vocoder-treated vocal harmonies. It has a depth to it that one would guess, could only stem from a deep, personal connection between the two.

Music aside, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks are a common thing, and something that we don’t need to battle alone. If you’re in the dark, please know that others, some of which who have been in your exact same place, are there and willing to help. Please reach out to a friend, a family member, or a complete stranger.
