In honor of the most romantic of all holidays (Easter, of course), we’ve decided to revive a little something from our past. Sunday Night Soul was a weekly series focused around bringing you the best in R&B from around the web to help you wind down at the end of your weekend. No, this is not an April Fool’s joke (at least we hope not), but we have made a few changes to help make things a bit more manageable for both us and you. For one, we’ve decided to shorten the playlists this time around to allow you to truly appreciate each week’s offering in its entirety. Secondly, we’ll be making our playlists available on SoundCloud and Spotify as well, so make sure to follow us on both platforms if you don’t already! With that being said, in the wise words of the honorable SZA, just sit back, relax and ease your mind as you dig into the tracks below.

Sunday Night Soul is finally turning 50! We know, we can’t believe it either. It took a little longer than we anticipated, but after countless delays and hiatuses, we’re finally here. Words cannot begin to express how blessed we feel to have reached this milestone, so before we begin, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our loyal followers out there who have patiently stuck with us from day one. At one point it seemed like we’d never reach this landmark, but thanks to you we’ve been able to keep this playlist up and running for 50 Sundays! Regardless of whether you’re a longtime listener or a recent follower, we salute all your support.
We’d also like to give some credit to all the amazing artists out there who have been helping to push this genre forward, because without them we would have no content for you in the first place. Back when we first started this series at the tail end of 2013, we never could have imagined it would expand to the enormous levels that it’s now reached. It’s remarkable to look back and see how many talented singers, songwriters, producers, etc. we’ve discovered since our first entry, and we’re excited to continue to unearth even more hidden gems going forward.
Now, before we get too carried away, we would like to give one last major shout out to our guest for the night, the one and only starRo, for making us one hell of a mix to celebrate this momentous occasion. The Japanese native and Soulection affiliate is just one of many incredible artists we’ve relied upon to provide us quality material throughout our brief history, and we’ve enjoyed watching him grow from the very beginning. If you’re not already, make sure to follow him on SoundCloud to keep up with all of his latest tunes. And speaking of SoundCloud, make sure to check ours after every Sunday to find our playlists after they’ve been published. Enough with the chit chat though; we’re just going to allow you to dive into this doozy of a playlist, because fittingly enough, it might just be one of our largest EVER.

Spring is finally in the air ninjas and we hope you had the opportunity to go out and experience some amazing weather this weekend. We know we did. And although today you may have been able to step outside and smell all the fresh new flowers, we expect a very different odor to flood the air in less than 24 hours. Tomorrow just happens to be a very special holiday for a distinct demographic of people, so if you’re in need of some tunes to chill out and relax to, we’ve got you covered. While we’re being intentionally vague here, we have a feeling you already now what we’re talking about.
Once again, our playlist is at critical mass, but we still expect you to listen from start to finish. In order to achieve that lofty goal, it might be wise to follow us on SoundCloud, where you can find our playlists each week after they’ve been published.

FOMO (or Fear Of Missing Out) is a very real affliction that affects hundreds of people every single day. While there is no absolute cure for it, we have it on good authority that a little Sunday Night Soul goes a long way. So whether you’ve been live streaming Coachella all weekend and grown envious of everyone in the crowd, or if you’re at Coachella and you’re jealous of everyone streaming leaked episodes of Game of Thrones at home tonight, we’ve got just the thing you need to help take your mind off of things. Just press play and let the music carry you away, and while you’re listening, make sure to follow us on SoundCloud to find all of our playlists after they’ve been published!

It’s Easter Sunday everyone, and although none of us are the Easter Bunny, we hope what we have to offer is a bit more appealing than any pastel colored eggs–unless of course those eggs contain chocolate inside, because there’s probably no way we can top that all. Either way, we hope this week’s Sunday Night Soul is the perfect nightcap to your holiday weekend. Once again our playlist is packed to the brim, so we’ll keep it short on the text so you can get straight to the listening.
We would like to conclude with one last note though. For those who haven’t had a chance to hear it yet, we highly recommend checking out alaya‘s recently released issue 02 compilation. Many of this week’s songs are from the project, and though I wish I could include all of them, there simply wasn’t enough space. With that being said, we hope you enjoy tonight’s selection. Make sure to follow us on SoundCloud where you can find our playlists after they’ve been published.

The Final Four has been decided and chances are most of your brackets have been busted by now. Rather than wallow in your woes though, why not melt them away with a little Sunday Night Soul? Believe us, we may be ninjas, but we’re not psychics, so we need this just as much as you do. We’ve assembled an incredibly stacked lineup, making our favorite picks even more difficult than the NCAA Tournament. With that in mind, we’ll save ourselves you the trouble of sifting through a long list of names to help speed up the healing process. Check out the collection of tunes we have for you below, and make sure to follow us on SoundCloud, where you can find our playlists after they’ve been published.

Before we begin, we’d like to give a special shoutout to the guys over at Soulection, who recently surpassed the 200,000 follower mark on SoundCloud. In celebration of that achievement, they decided to release a new compilation titled, Love Is King, which also doubles as a tribute to the one and only Sade. We’ve chosen a few of our favorites to include in the playlist below, but you should definitely check out the full project. Without Soulection, we probably would have no Sunday Night Soul, so we have a lot of respect for what they’ve been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time.
If you were down in Austin for SXSW with some of our other ninjas, chances are you could use a moment to just breathe and relax. What better way to wind down after an insanely hectic week than with a little soul? Although tonight’s edition doesn’t approach the massive scale of last week’s playlist, there’s still plenty of gold to be found in this one. We’ll let you sift through the collection yourself, so please let us know if you have any favorites! Also, make sure to follow us on SoundCloud, where you can find all of our playlists after they’ve been published.
