Jackson Breit – Wouldn’t Change a Thing [TMN PREMIERE]

Jackson Breit
Wouldn't Change A Thing

Having a rough week? Are the odds seemingly stacking up against you? Do you just want to stay in bed and avoid any other potential downfalls? Do us a favor. Before you let any more negativity enter your mind, press play on this new Jackson Breit tune, put a smile on your face, and go enjoy your day.

The latest release from this Los Angeles based singer/songwriter is exactly what everyone needs when they’re having one of those days. Cheery, bright, and uplifting, it’s a perfect culmination of encouraging instrumentals and restorative lyrics. Speaking of those lyrics, they’re once again brought to you through the inventive and playful vocal range, and memorable tone that we’ve come to know and love from Mr. Breit.

Aside from being a beacon of positivity to those who listen, it’s also going to lend a helping hand to families who have autistic children. Through our friends over at Cadence & Cause, Jackson is donating the majority of the proceeds from this tune to provide educational materials to families affected by this disease to hopefully make life a little easier, and a little more manageable.

When asked why he chose to support this cause, Jackson had this to say:

Growing up, I worked as a counselor for Camp Gonnawannagoagain, a summer camp for autistic children. Working at the camp helped me appreciate the struggles of families raising autistic children. I hope I can make a small impact by helping those families.

[R&B/Hip-Hop] Snakehips – All My Friends (Feat. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper)

SNAKEHIPS
All My Friends (Ft. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper)

Snakehips have been making waves over the past couple of years, establishing themselves as one of the most talented production duos to emerge from the UK through a steady stream of fantastic remixes as well as some incredible original content that includes collaborations with Tory Lanez, Sinead Harnett and Kaleem Taylor. Their latest outing however has all the right ingredients to make for a surefire hit, as they’ve landed possibly the biggest features of their careers thus far in Tinashe and Chance The Rapper for a new song called “All My Friends”. Snakehips are no strangers to crafting catchy hooks, yet “All My Friends” might be their most easily accessible tune to date, featuring an exceptionally relatable chorus that’s bound to echo throughout your brain for at least a few moments after the song has ended. We expect this to become the ultimate anthem during those late Saturday nights out on the town just as everyone prepares to pack up and head home. You can stream the track above, but make sure to snag yourself a copy on iTunes as well.

[House] Pat Lok – Your Lips ft. DiRTY RADiO

Pat Lok
Your Lips ft. DiRTY RADiO

It’s always a treat when two of our favorite entities come together for a warranted collaboration, and we’ve gleefully gotten to add another groover to that list on this fine Monday. TMN mainstay Pat Lok, who most recently stopped by our pages with his remix of The Knocks’ viral single “Classic”, has added another soulful house gem to his carefully crafted catalog by enlisting the vocal duties of fellow TMN regulars,  Canadian indie-R&B slingers DiRTY RADiO to create “Your Lips”. “Your Lips” is equally suited as a club-ready track or casual listener, pairing pulsating deep-disco vibes to DiRTY RADiO’s sensual vocal track, which results in a silky smooth melody that beckons its listeners to the dance floor. This one’s already garnered support from BBC Radio 1Xtra as well as artist support from the likes of Tensnake, Moon Boots, Goldroom, and more; solidifying Pat Lok’s staying power in the process. Stream “Your Lips” above and let’s start dancing away this Monday afternoon.

[Electronic/Hip-Hop] THEY. – Nü Religion EP

As the work week slowly winds its way down, we’re fully aware that you’re on the hunt for solid tunes to carry you into two days of pure, unadulterated freedom. Luckily for you, THEY. just dropped their debut EP via Mind of a Genius, and it’s rife with heavy bass hits, lush vocals, and inventive verses.

If this is the first time you’ve heard of this act, we’ll fill you in on their background. THEY. are Drew and Dante. The two were introduced in LA through a mutual acquaintance. Dante was dialing up beats with the ever-so-popular, and oft mysterious producer ZHU, and Drew had just relocated from Maryland. Together, both are influenced by a wide variety of acts like Taking Back Sunday, Nirvana, Babyface, and New Edition, all of which culminate in an unique, and highly addictive listening experience.

Three tracks are highlighted in their Nü Religion EP, which can all be found below. Our favorite out of the trio is “Motley Crue,” which may or may not be due to our secret love for songs like “Kickstart My Heart” and “Shout at the Devil.” Whether or not the title was a subtle nod to Vince Neil and the rest of those cats, it still caught our ear and won’t let go. The dark and understated guitar lick would certainly indicate a connection to some hard rock roots, but we’re pretty sure the title is referring to the lyrics. Regardless, the combination of huge 808 hits, clean snares, and layered vocal samples all culminate into the perfect song to crank up on your ride home from work.

So, make sure you have your shades ready. Roll the windows down. Press play and don’t forget to turn this shit up.

[TMN RESIDENCY] Introducing Our Next Resident Artist: Galimatias

For so many of us, October signifies the changing of the seasons. As we usher in chilly weather, multi-colored foliage, good books, and hearty, home-cooked meals, we’re always looking to gleefully embrace music that matches those impending changes. Switching it up from the sun-soaked festival anthems and catchy-as-hell indie pop chart toppers, we can’t help but be drawn to tunes that are a little slower, a little more mysterious, and a little more relaxing to flood our airways.

As we welcome in all of the above, we’re also welcoming in a brand new resident artist, and one who has a style that’s perfect for slowing down, and taking life in, minute-by-minute, moment-by-moment.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, we’re, of course, talking about Danish artist Galimatias. Most of you should be familiar with his work by now, especially the stunning pieces composed with Alina Baraz. He flawlessly incorporates a wide array of genres, seamlessly fusing together elements of R&B, reggae, and soul, amongst others. All of those neatly combined influences shine brightly in the most recent EP, Urban Flora, which boasts eight sultry, seductive, and highly addictive songs. If at this point, you’re wondering what exactly that experience entails, please press play below. We’ve made it easy on you by including the entire collection, plus a few of our other favorites. Be warned, though, it might incite the need for some top shelf booze and quality time with your significant other. It always does for us, at least.

One thing that fans and bloggers haven’t seen much with this now Los Angeles-based musician is his personal side. His facebook is bare, showcasing only a few select photos. Interviews with him are hard to come by, as well, with only a few select publications getting the opportunity to dig a little bit deeper into the man behind the music.

For all these reasons, we couldn’t be more pleased to bring on Galimatias as our Resident Artist for the next month. We’ll be bringing you an in-depth interview, some exclusive music, and a few other surprises as well. Make sure to stay tuned all month long.

When Arthur Ashin’s Autre Ne Veut project announced its followup LP to 2013’s excellent Anxiety in the form of the gleefully frantic Age of Transparency (which you can listen to in all of its glory below via Spotify), we perked up in preparation to devour every last piece as it was revealed. In advance of Age of Transparency’s October 2nd release a few weeks back, we had the chance to hear singles “Panic Room” & “World War pt. 2” and even crafted an entertaining and lovely conversation with him last month, which all only served to stoke our flame for a live experience. Luckily for us, Autre Ne Veut’s just three dates into an album supporting North American tour, and for our Denver based Ninjas, TMN will be out in full force this Friday at Lost Lake Lounge for the show.

The night won’t be short of talent either, with an opening set provided by the talented, L.A. via DC duo of Lindsay Pitts and Clifford John Usher, known simply as GEMS. [R&B] JARAMI – Wings (Feat. Jesse Boykins III & Pell)

JARAMI
Wings (feat. Jesse Boykins III & Pell)

Feeling the Monday mid-afternoon blues? Well, we have just the cure to lift your spirits. “Wings” serves as the debut single from Swedish production duo JARAMI, but the pair are no strangers to the industry, already having songwriting and production credits for tunes with Skizzy Mars and Marc E Bassy under their belt. That experience pays off in a major way as the two manage to craft a blissfully uplifting tune with the assistance of soaring vocals from Jesse Boykins III and a rousingly poignant verse from New Orleans spitter Pell. If you’re anything like us you’ll catch yourself singing along by the three minute mark–as a side note, you may also find you have an inexplicable craving for chicken wings as well. JARAMI are currently preparing to release their debut EP later this year, but in the meantime you can download the track above and stream it through Spotify.
