[Hip-Hop] Slow Magic – Girls (MOORS Remix)

’Slow Magic – Girls (MOORS Remix)’
’Lusine – Arterial (Moors Remix)’

LA hip-hop duo MOORS emerged earlier this year with the release of their self-titled EP, a creative project full of hazy production and introspective lyricism. Aside from their originals, MOORS have also shown a knack for remixes with wavy, genre-bending takes on BATHS and James Vincent McMorrow, who they joined for a leg of his recent US tour. Earlier this week, emcee Keith Stanfield and producer HH dropped off an official remix for another of our favorite emerging artists, Slow Magic. Taking probably the catchiest song from Slow Magic’s recent album in “Girls,” HH creates the perfectly warped loop over which Keith, also a professional actor, displays some theatrical, storytelling bars adding a different kind of  depth to the original. Give this dope cut a spin above along with another remix they dropped this week of Lusine‘s “Arterial.”

[Chill] Spoon – Inside Out (Tycho Remix)

Spoon
Inside Out (Tycho Remix)

Ninja regulars will already know this, but we’re huge fans of Tycho, who really caught their stride this year with the release of Awake. Today, we get an extra special remix from Scott Hansen & co. as they take on “Inside Out” by Spoon, who have had quite the comeback year themselves. Tycho utilize their signature instrumentation to create an incredible groove matching the original’s bounce and complimenting the vocals of Spoon frontman Britt Daniel to perfection. After the first couple minutes, though, the track goes near full instrumental allowing the abstract, subtle melodies to take front and center. We’re not used to hearing vocals on Tycho tracks, but are definitely not mad at how this one turned out. Hit play and get lost in this gorgeous tune above. Also, be sure to check out our interview with Tycho here.

Corbu
Neon Hallway (Autograf Remix)

Chicago-based duo Autograf have established themselves as one of the frontrunners of future house music. Labelled as future tropical, Autograf’s style of music is memorable and unique in its own way. “Neon Hallway”, the original tune by the Brooklyn indie group Corbu is stripped down to the bare bone. Their signature tropical sound is featured in this remix, creating a rather mysterious and intense vibe. Xylophones melodies and djembe beats are also incorporated into this juicy tune, while the hollowed vocal samples further spicing up the futuristic approach.

Make sure to stay tuned for the duo’s “Future Tropical” series as they constantly come out with quality music at an unbelievable pace, and you can bank that we’ll be on top of their luscious sound for you Ninjas as well.

DJ Fresh Feat. Ella Eyre
Gravity (DJ Marky Remix)

Drum and bass is alive and well in Sao Paolo, and DJ Marky has his fingerprints all over it. The famed beatsmithing gaucho recently corralled an official remix for DJ Fresh’s monster tune “Gravity,” which features the glorious vocals of MOBO and Brit Award winner miss Ella Eyre.

Delightfully delivering a delicate jungle-inspired remix of an already stellar tune, Marky is bringing the masses a light and vibrant take. With a cascading blend of fast-paced maracas, a classic piano melody, and expert vocal sampling, “Gravity” floats along our cerebellum, making us smile and dance all across the office.

We’re pretty sure you’ll fall into suit, so just make sure you wait until everyone is out at lunch before you press play.

Remember – always check to make sure you’re laced up before boogying. You don’t want your co-workers to come back to an awful mess.

[House] Seinabo Sey – Hard Time (The Golden Pony Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Seinabo Sey
Hard Time (The Golden Pony Remix)

We hope everyone had just a peachy and (hopefully) extended holiday break in the states. As we slink back to work, school or wherever else the inaugural day of December finds you; there seems to be a need for a bit of post-Thanksgiving pick-me-up. And who better than to supply said spark than with two of our favorite disco-house movers and shakers, NYC’s The Golden Pony. After most recently coming off of a groove inducing disco remix of the Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer”, the afro sporting twosome approach their latest remix of Seinabo Sey’s “Hard Time” through a more conscientious classic house scope. Seinabo Sey’s vocals, which have fit most serendipitously on most any house remix, play delightfully amongst a soulful grand piano line and thumping four-four kick-drum for a slightly more directed to the club floor feel than they’ve sported in the past. We’ve been all over this one this morning, and we’re pretty sure it will coax a two-step and shuffle out of you as well. Stream The Golden Pony’s take on Seinabo Sey’s “Hard Time” above.
