[Future Trap] Clean Bandit Feat. Jess Glynne – Rather Be (DJ Mustard Remix)

Clean Bandit Ft. Jess Glynne
Rather Be (DJ Mustard Remix)

A few days overdue, but this remix is too epic for it to not get some TMN light shed on it. Many of you are already very familiar with the name DJ Mustard, or at least with the popular phrase “Mustard on the beat, hoe.” Starting to ring a bell? If you still aren’t sure who he is, we can assure you that at least 70% of the hip hop songs you hear on the radio are produced by this guy.

Considering that Mustard is notorious for his hip hop production and his signature four note melodies, it may come to many as a major surprise that he is releasing a remix. Not only that, but this remix touches the future area of EDM with a bit of trap mixed in. Let us just tell you that our jaws dropped after first listen.

DJ Mustard’s remix of Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” is as sexy as it is badass. First deceiving listeners with the exact same opening as the original, he throws in a subtle difference via a catchy beat cued by his all too familiar catch phrase. This then opens up to a futuristic breakdown constructed by some incredible EQing and mixing followed by pure bass and melody. Only expect the unexpected with this one.

[TMN Premiere] Ne-Yo ft. Juicy J – She Knows (Kayliox Remix)

Ne-Yo
She Knows (Feat. Juicy J) (Kayliox Remix)

Following the rising popularity of tropical house, bass-house/future-bass is becoming another household sound in the revival of house music. Kayliox, a Canadian electronic duo, is fueling the movement by producing quality future house music. On their latest, a remix of  Ne-Yo and Juicy J‘s “She Knows, Kayliox once again proves they’re one of the frontrunners in a new way of house music.

The tune starts off with a standard 4×4 house beat fused with Ne-Yo’s R&B vocals. While the beat mixes well with the original tune, the drop is not as hard-hitting as we would expect. The grungy synth is both subtle and catchy, and Juicy J’s rap flows well with the overall futuristic style of the track. It shows the diversity and complexity in Kayliox’s music, as they continue to appeal to a larger audience by cleverly remixing Top 40 hits.

Stay tuned and grab a free copy of this dope remix on their Soundcloud page! We are expecting big moves from this talented duo.

Fairchild – Stay Young (Midnight Mix) [TMN Premiere]

FAIRCHILD
Stay Young (Midnight Mix)

If you’re into softer indie rock and music with a message, you’ve come to the right place. Fairchild, an Australian indie group, just released their US debut EP titled Sadako. With a sound resembling indie powerhouses like The Temper Trap and Two Door Cinema Club, Fairchild’s music speaks to its audience in incredible ways.

Here we have an edit of one of their singles titled “Stay Young”, which is a track that best represents the band’s sound in our opinion. The tune starts off with some fast-paced drum lines, soon to be driven by these delicate muted guitar melodies. Adam Lyons, the singer of the group, provides us with vocals that are pleasant and emotionally driven. The lyrics are nothing short of wonderful, as they appeal to the younger generation through a powerful message.

Another day is breaking. It seems like my time is running thin.
No need for expectations. Don’t ever, ever give in.
Just stay young!

With such positive energy in their music, Fairchild manages to create a sound that is refreshing and universal. The midnight edit adds a more progressive drive to the epic track without being overdone. With this release, Fairchild is set to make a name for themselves by making their US debut. Make sure to check out the rest of their EP, we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
