[Deep-House/Indie-Dance] Pretty Ricky ft. 50 Cent – Grind With Me (SNBRN Remix)

Pretty Ricky ft. 50 Cent
Grind With Me (SNBRN Remix)

After most recently taking on Dirty South’s “Unbreakable”, L.A. stationed house producer SNBRN has added another adeptly executed underground tipping dance composition to an already veritable palate of releases. Again showcasing a musicianship well above most other house artists cutting their teeth within the blogosphere, SNBRN weaves together two separate tunes -Pretty Ricky’s “Grind With Me” and 50 Cent’s “Hate It Or Love It”- to devise a completely unique remix which employs the accessibility of an indie-dance/nu-disco melody with a deep-house synth and bass line and even a shimmer of progressive meets classic house driven piano. This one again showcases a grasp on all things dance, and about the latest offering SNBRN added: “For this track I wanted to do a double remix, incorporating both the chorus from Grind With Me and 50’s verse from “Hate It or Love It”. The goal was to create a super fusion of hip hop/deep/progressive/nu disco and make a sexy upbeat track anyone can get down to. Relax your mind and enjoy the free download”.  We surely will. [Nu-Disco] Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me (Eau Claire Remix)

Mike Posner
Cooler Than Me (Eau Claire Remix)

Up and coming producer from DC Eau Claire is back at it with another banger remix! This juicy edit of Mike Posner‘s hit single from a few years ago, “Cooler Than Me,” will have you dancing your pants off. Starting off with vocal samples from the original tune and a funky beat, the talented artist’s rework captures your senses through quirky and clever maneuvers. Combining both higher and lower-pitched vocals, this tune manages to show both complexity and character. It’s catchy, exciting and memorable all at the same time; yes, it’s just that good.

Following the success of her previous hit remix of Stevie Wonder‘s “Uptight”, Eau Claire is definitely making a name for herself in the revival of indie dance scene. Make sure to grab a free download of this remix here and check out her work as as part of Man & Woman, another nu-disco duo.

[Hip-Hop/Electronic] Phantogram – Black Out Days (Remix) (feat. Danny Brown & Leo Justi)

Phantogram
Black Out Days remix ft. Danny Brown and Leo Justi

Given hip-hop’s influence on their sound, it comes as no surprise that emcees are drawn to the music of Phantogram. Aside from their work with Big Boi, the electro pop/rock duo have seen a number of rappers flip their songs into instrumentals–Ratking‘s take on “Fall in Love” is maybe the best example. Today, we get another stellar hip-hop re-work as Phantogram enlists Danny Brown and Brazilian producer Leo Justi to take on one of their many hits, “Black Out Days.”

Justi does an absolutely amazing job keeping the original in tact while picking up the tempo with 808-percussion and layering of portions of the vocals. At about the 1:45 mark, the beat takes a brief backseat as Danny Brown steps in. When the instrumental returns, the talented emcee hits his stride demonstrating his hard-hitting delivery. Lyrically, this might be one of our favorite verses from Brown so we recommend giving it a close listen. You can check out our interview with Phantogram here if you haven’t already.

[Future/House/Chill] Christina Perri – Burning Gold (Autograf Remix)

Christina Perri
Burning Gold (Autograf Remix)

We’ve been swooning over Chicago based house benders Autograf since their debut revision of 50 Cent & Lil’ Kim’s “Magic Stick” over a year ago, and luckily for us, they’ve continually set the bar higher on an already stellar production meter with every passing release.  Autograf’s latest tune finds them taking on Christina Perri’s “Burning Gold” and warping it down into a softened dance floor burner while using their future tipping house sounds to  reel in both listeners of the “chill” persuasion and dance heads alike. The Autograf boys have always maintained a proper musician’s grasp on compositional dance structure as they’ve fused Flume-wave percussive elements (yeah we just went there) with driving four-four melodies to create their own unique take on modern dance music. This one flits along a beautiful listening line, sounding as sonically inviting through your car speakers as it does commanding a proper stack of club monitors. Snag a copy of Christina Perri’s entire Burning Gold EP here through Atlantic Records on iTunes and let’s all groove out to Autograf’s remix above. Happy Hump Day Ninjas.

Breeze (Tontario & SaxoKid Remix)

Manchester-based group MDNGHT came out with an amazing single titled “Breeze”, which definitely deserves more attention. Today we give you a remix of that tropical goodness by Finnish producer Tontario with saxophone performed by SaxoKid, spicing up an already juicy tune. The track starts off with smooth vocals from their frontman J, followed by percussion that gives off a summery vibe. The deep house edit with the killer saxophone further accentuates the complexity of MDNGHT’s style of music.

Bringing disco music live, these talented musicians are said to resemble the sound of Clean Bandit and Disclosure. We are excited to see what else MDNGHT brings to the table.

Oyinda – The Devil’s Gonna Keep Me (W/O Remix) [TMN PREMIERE]

Oyinda is one up and rising artist. Born in Nigeria, raised in London, and currently residing in NYC, this artist has been turning heads with her first single releases. The third song off her upcoming EP, ‘The Devil’s Gonna Keep Me’, got a recent rework by the highly talented WO and we are fortunate to get to premiere this catchy track today. Oynida has a very mournful voice, thick and low, she easily speaks to the very core of your being. With this particular remix, WO played off of that and added an electronic melody and beat that turned the song into an almost Bond-like theme song, sexy, even more seductive, and enticing to hear. This is the perfect combination of the original feel of Oyinda combined with the mixing style of WO, adding a new feel to this song. Watch out, after listening to this song you might just believe the Devil is going to keep you, and you might be ok with it.
