[Electronic] Eli Muro – Orphan’s Son (Ekali Remix)

Eli Muro
Orphan's Son (Ekali Remix)

What else is there to be said about Ekali? The dude has quickly become not just a TMN favorite, but a force to be reckoned with in the bass music scene. With only eight tracks under his belt, he’s already racked up nearly 10,000 Soundcloud followers and that number will only continue to grow as industry tastemakers and leading producers keep taking notice. His latest effort is as dark and sinister as it is gorgeous. Eli Muro makes his Ninja debut as Ekali turns “Orphan’s Son” into a broody banger that I think anyone with a pulse can and will enjoy.

[Chill] Basecamp – Shudder (Twinztrack Remix)

Basecamp
Shudder (Twinztrack Remix)

If you haven’t realized it yet, we here at TMN have been infatuated with Basecamp‘s “Shudder” from the very first moment it first blessed our ears early last month. Not only have we found ourselves zoning out to the original on a regular basis, but the countless remixes that have followed have captured our constant attention as well. Now French electronic duo Twinztrack have decided to throw their hats in the ring, providing us with yet another fascinating remix. This latest rendition finds the hypnotic vocals from the original embedded in a swirling palette of engrossing synths and skittering percussion that help add a playfully melodic touch to the tune. Remember that zoning out sensation we mentioned earlier? Yeah, try resisting it from the moment you press play. We promise it’s not possible. This is a song that will most definitely captivate you.

There’s no word on whether this will be available for download or purchase in the near future, but we won’t blame you for immediately wanting a copy for yourself.

Jeremih
Break Up To Make Up (WYLN Edit)

More often than not, us ninjas tend to have a general understanding of how to classify songs based on their style, sound, as well as our knowledge behind each genre – after all, we are tastemakers so we should know what goes where! However, sometimes we face a challenge with certain songs in which it can get a bit difficult placing them exactly where they belong. That’s what happened to us when we came across this adorable edit of Jeremih’s “Break Up To Make Up”. We already go bananas over the original track as is, but WYLN just took this song to an entirely new level of cute. We know…most producers probably don’t want to have their music be described as “cute”, but hey, as a ninjette with a heart, this edit hits a girl straight in her soft spot every single time. With all the intricate drum patterns, the fluffy synthesized melodies, and Jeremih’s adorable young voice layered on top of this lovely production, WYLN gives this track a solid re-work that will entice all who listen. So while you get ready to break up to make up, make sure to grab your free download while in the mean time – you’ll want this track for later.

[Chill-out] James Vincent McMorrow – Glacier (Atu Remix)

James Vincent McMorrow
Glacier (Atu Remix)

Another super talented artist under Soulection Atu recently released this remix of a James Vincent McMorrow song titled “Glacier”, and as it came to no surprise to us, it became another instant classic. Moving away from the usual indie folk elements, the original is more of a soulful vocal magnum opus. Atu changes the scene of the tune by creating R&B ticks and chillwave beats ad putting them with the vocals of Mr. McMorrow. It takes you on a journey through Atu’s dream filled with chill-out vibes. This here is one of those songs that leave you pondering life and whatnot.

With such high production value, this tune is the epitome of Atu’s work. He always manages to pick the most suitable tracks to remix with. While we would love to see more of his musical diversity, there is no doubt he is one of the best in doing what he’s doing.

Sleepless (Prince Fox & Jenaux Remix)

Whenever we come across artists who continuously blow our minds with their uncanny abilities to create some of the most feel good music out there, we can’t help but fan-girl when such artists decide to team up and combine their styles of music. A couple of weeks ago, a TMN newbie, Jenaux, and a TMN regular, Prince Fox, surprised us all with a stunning remix of the oh so familiar Cazzette track, “Sleepless”. After obsessing over his Panama Wedding “Uma” remix, we knew that Jenaux’s Progressive House background and Prince Fox’s eclectic style of production would ultimately shut down the internet for the evening. With no surprise at all, these two fused together both Progressive and Future Bass elements to send us soaring in this “Sleepless” remix. Loaded with poppy melodies, uplifting builds, and mainstage worthy breakdowns, Jenaux and Prince Fox could not have made a more perfect team. The response they’ve gotten thus far just means that we need to see them work on more tracks together. *Hint Hint*

[Delicious] Eric Prydz – Liberate (Lane 8 Remix)

Eric Prydz
Liberate (Lane 8 Remix)

Here’s where we stand: Eric Prydz is one of the best in the business. While we’ve always been fans of this Stockholm based musician, we were even more sold when we saw him close out Coachella ’13. We had spent an entire weekend hearing nothing but build up, drop, build up, drop, build up, drop, and hearing a progressive set from Mr. Prydz was nothing short of spectacular. In our honest opinion, his show was one of the best we saw all weekend long.

Taking on a track from this progressive house legend is nothing short of daunting, but we have faith in San Fran-based producer Lane 8. Having previously stolen our hearts with “I Got What You Want,” we were equally enammoured with his interpretation of “Liberate.”

This slow, encapsulating remix provides a delicious soundscape worthy of a fine glass of bourbon and a rare cigar. Ok, maybe that’s the old man in me talking. Regardless of which, the soundscape created by Lane 8 in this remix is second to none, focusing highly on a gorgeous chord progression and heavy claps from the cymbals.
