[Disco House] Knight One – Hollow (Les Loups Remix)

Knight One
Hollow (Les Loups Remix)

Another great find of the day is this Les Loups remix of this Knight One track titled “Hollow”. Les Loups claims this tune to be in the “ocean disco” subgenre, and they cannot describe it more accurately. They are always able to put together French house and disco music, creating funky and catchy tunes all around. This song features oceanic wave sounds in the background, and the funky slappy electric guitar comes in to seal the deal. They can rightfully say that they have established themselves as a French electronic powerhouse after this release.

Make sure to check out Les Loups’ Swords Cry (The Remixes) EP, consisting of a whole bunch of French disco goodness remixing fun and relaxing tunes.

[Tropical House] I Am Oak – On Trees and Birds and Fire (Sam Feldt & Bloombox Remix)

In the subgenre of tropical house, producer Sam Feldt isn’t usually a name that will ring a bell to most people. This recent release of a remix collaborating with Bloombox titled “On Trees and Birds and Fire”, is a tune originally by indie folk group I Am Oak.

This remix is amazing in the sense of how well Sam Feldt manages to turn folk music into this deep house goodness. The tune starts off with these wooden drumsticks samples, then the tropical bell sounds come in to join the mix together with the vocals. They talk about trees and birds so you can call this a country/folk fusion pop song that got turned into a tropical house remix. The idea is simple but genius. It might not have the necessary tropical house elements in the song, but the lyrics and the instrumentals definitely make up for it.

We are really excited to see what Sam Feldt has to offer. Go have a listen and we promise you won’t be disappointed!

[Chill Trap] Miley Cyrus – Adore You (Polar Youth Re-work)

Miley Cyrus
Adore You (Polar Youth refix)

We aren’t sure if posting a Miley Cyrus re-work is a good representation of our taste in music over here at TMN, however, we must point out that some kids sure do know how to flip her songs into something that we can actually enjoy for once. 19-year-old Belgium producer, Polar Youth, gave Miley’s “Adore You” a much needed chill trap tune-up in which she crafts this song into something truly, truly beautiful. With its subtle, tropical ambiance and a heavy 808 to chill us to the bone, Polar Youth flawlessly creates the perfect production to emphasize Miley’s lyrics on a much deeper value. Who would have thought we would be saying these types of things about Miley and her unique behaviors? Lucky for her, it took some girl power to give this song a certain desirability for all of us to enjoy.  While Polar Youth continues taking over this genre, get your free download and adore it until you find yourself in a bear suit taking selfies in the bathroom (we really don’t think that will happen, so don’t worry).

[Ambient] Bon Iver – Heavenly Father (Outburns Remix)

Bon Iver
Heavenly Father (Outburns REMIX)

As the sun starts to slowly creep its way up across the horizon and the birds start becoming a bit more vocal than normal, it’s a sign that we may have just spent our entire night wrapped up in the wonderful world of music. At times it’s important to take moments to truly feel the music we listen to and enjoy it for what it’s worth in that moment. Typically, music sounds and feels better the closer we get to sunrise because we tend to feel things on a much deeper level. Whenever a Bon Iver song comes on (especially at hours like this), it’s almost as if there’s a little fairy inside our mind that sprinkles pixie dust full of feelings all over the place.  When it comes to Bon Iver remixes, those are typically an off-limits area because, well, it’s Bon Iver and he is a lyrical and melodic genius. We came across a new name on our news feed a little while back by the name of Outburns. The Seattle native decided to re-work the massive Bon Iver track, “Heavenly Father” and ultimately made us stop what we were doing and get lost in the beauty that flowed into our ears, our mind, and our soul. With a subtle, Tycho-like feel, Outburns intricately weaves in soothing elements and blends them all together to form a cohesive mass of euphoria. Bon Iver’s flawless voice over this properly done remix just takes us to Swoonville and we aren’t coming back. Outburns has made this song available for download, so do yourself a favor and download your copy today – we promise your soul will thank you.

[Indie Electronic] Tokyo Police Club – Hot Tonight (Togetherness Remix)

Tokyo Police Club
Hot Tonight (Togetherness Remix)

Is it hot tonight or what? Considering it’s about 100 degrees over here in hell (Southern California) and there are absolutely no signs of it getting any cooler anytime soon, we would have to say it’s pretty damn hot. Adding to the unbearable heat is a remix we stumbled across by NYC’s very own Togetherness. Made up of St. Lucia’s Nick Paul and Ross Clark, Togetherness appears to still be under the radar – but not for much longer because these two are taking the indie electronic sound to a much more sophisticated level. Taking on Tokyo Police Club’s, “Hot Tonight”, Togetherness adds the perfect amount of heat to keep the fire burning and our body’s movin’. After giving this remix a few good hundred plays or so, we might have to go grab some sunscreen because it’s literally and figuratively going to be hot tonight.

We’re pretty stoked to have come across Nick and Ross’ little indie electronic side project, so mark our words now because  Togetherness is well on their way to being the next TMN all-stars like some of our favorite artists, RAC and The Knocks. Keep your eyes peeled on them, ninjas, because we guarantee they’re going to take off before we can even press play.
