[Summer] Freedom Fry – Shakey Ground (Danielle Remix)

Freedom Fry
Shaky Ground (Danielle Remix)

It’s so nice to stumble on new artists almost daily, and the newest discovery we’ve dug up is the summery vibe from Danielle. With February halfway over and the slow crawl of winter refusing to quit, it’s tough to get into the mindset that warm weather is anywhere close to coming back, but Danielle has stepped in to quell our winter blues.

This transformation of Freedom Fry‘s “Shakey Ground” ushers in a strong first presence for Danielle, especially within the tropical realm. There’s much more groove in this debut tune than the rest of the genre, and it gives a nice refresher as to what tropical driven tunes are capable of. The best elements, mainly the chorus, are accentuated alongside the pumping percussion and island drums in a catchy manner that’s sure to help pave your way all the way to Margaritaville even in the freezing cold. Dust off that blender and go buy some bendy straws, because summer will be here before you know it.

[Dance-Pop] Great Good Fine Ok – Too Much To Handle (Penguin Prison Remix)

Great Good Fine Ok
Too Much To Handle (Penguin Prison Remix)

It’s been a little over a week since Brooklyn’s fastest rising synth-pop sons Great Good Fine OK released their latest single “Too Much To Handle”, along with the news of a coinciding EP, cleverly compressed down to be named 2M2H. And, while we’ve simultaneously been tracking the rumblings out of the Penguin Prison studio, it was quite serendipitous that GGFO’s first installment in what will no doubt be a long line of remix attempts comes from Chris Glover’s dancefloor marked pop project. While a large chunk of the Penguin Prison sound has been forged behind hammer-sized 80’s synth-pop progressions, his latest offering is shot directly out of the club cannon. Featuring the kind of rolling drums which have permeated the UK ‘club-house’ scene for the last few years, and Jon Sandler’s lush falsetto; Penguin Prison offers us an alternately more brooding, less inspiriting lens through which to consume GGFO’s sterling original tune. And what a sultry lens that is. Be on the lookout for more official remixes on this one, as well as Great Good Fine OK’s 2M2H EP due out March 16th via Sony Music. Until then, stream Penguin Prison’s “Too Much To Handle” remix above.

That's Nice (Official)
Holiday ft. Josh Moriarty (Keljet Remix)

What’s not to love about a feel-good tune dressed up in an indie dance outfit? The funky original by Mario Rdz a.k.a That’s Nice is getting remixed by Dutch producer Keljet., who spiced it up with a heavy disco vibe that works wonders. The vocals by Miami Horror’s lead singer Josh Mariarty are almost the perfect complement to the joyful instrumental by giving it a casual and summery approach and further accentuating the indie elements of the track. It’s one of those tunes where you’d absolutely fall in love with after the first listen.

This might just be your next favorite jam. If you want to get through the mid-week struggle, listen to this song and let it bring a smile to your face. Make sure to support these talented artists, as we’re beyond excited to see where their music is going.

[Deep/Future House] Big Sean – IDFWU (Sikdope Remix)

Big Sean
IDFWU ( Sikdope Remix )

While Sikdope is getting ready to wrap up his February Tour he has decided to drop a new free remix of the Big Sean hit “IDFWU.” Taking things into house territory like this is an interesting move, but the flip turns out to be super solid. The Polish producer went for a more provocative sound with things leaning towards the sub-genre future house that is unfortunately coming into fruition in a big way. There’s cool stuff coming out of the scene for sure, and this is definitely in that category. His creative idea resulted in a lively remix that wouldn’t disappoint at any party or get together. His catchy bassline is the highlight of the track for me, but have a listen for yourself. As previously mentioned, this flip has been released for free, which you may receive here.

[Chill House] Chelsea Lankes – Down For Whatever (Sebastian Carter Remix)

Chelsea Lankes stormed the internet with her beautiful single “Down For Whatever”, and with radio buzz happening as well from KCRW, KXRN, and 98.7FM KYSR in Los Angeles, we think there is no better time than to continue the buzz online with some proper remixes. We recently shared her Carousel remix on the Mustic Ninja the other week, and today we have a new take on the record by Swiss born by-way-of-brighton producer, Sebastian Carter. Sebastian turns the record into his own deep house jam, injecting it with just the right amount of drums and melody to keep you moving on the dance floor.

Give it a spin and stay tuned for more from this pair.

I'll Be Good (Thero Remix)

Thero is back to provide some warmth in this cold time we’re having. His latest remix efforts tackle the talents of James Young and his wonderful tune, “I’ll Be Good.” Thero flipped the slow tune on its head into a laidback affair, not unlike a fine medium between Kygo and Filous. He retained and chopped the guitar in a manner so as to complement the rest of the tropical-esque production nicely while holding true to his own sound.
