[Electronic] Portugal The Man – Purple Yellow Red And Blue (Cowp Remix)

Cowp
Purple Yellow Red And Blue (Cowp Remix)

It’s Saturday afternoon and we’d imagine that most of you are either a) still sleeping, b) still drunk, or c) all of the above. As we sip on our hangover remedies with our headphones on our ears, we can’t help but dive head first into the never ending sea we like to call, Soundcloud. During this particular stumble, we came across a remix of Portugal The Man’s popular song, “Purple Yellow Red and Blue” by Boston producer, Cowp. This highly underrated artist has been on my radar (in particular) for months on end, and now I personally believe he just stepped up his production like never before.

At first listen, it’s almost impossible NOT to bump your head and throw in some ooh’s and aah’s from time to time because- hot damn- this remix is just what we needed to hear on a day like today. With a more futuristic, progressive approach, Cowp creates a fun dance anthem that incorporates many different genres underneath the electronic umbrella. Within this remix, we can identify elements of future bass, trap, indie dance, etc. that collectively give our ears an intended blend of auditory dissonance. From beginning to end, this remix progresses in a way that makes us “want to live in ecstasy”. All in all, Cowp just gave us a whole lot of YES and we’re just stoked to share this gem with all of you Saturday go-getters. So grab your free download and make sure to keep your eyes and ears on this upcoming producer.

Pistols At Dawn (Lucian x Mickey Valen Remix)

Being a newcomer to all of the artists involved in this tune, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Needless to say, after giving it a whirl, I was floored. Preserving the clear and crisp vocals of Seinabo Sey, Lucian and Mickey Valen shape a pop infused, futuristic masterpiece that could be just as much of a radio single as it is a SoundCloud gem. The piano offsets the huge, sawed off drops nicely and give the whole track a nice balance between every ebb and flow. Pop sensibilities face off with the new, transformative and exciting styles that have dominated the SoundCloud community and the winner every time is the listener. If you’re looking for a good segway track from more mainstream material, this remix courtesy of Lucian and Mickey Valen is a great place to start this fresh transition.

As we struggle to open our eyes and get out of bed on this slow, calm Friday morning, we can’t help but find some incentive to move from this comfort zone. Helping lift our sleepy spirits today are TMN natives, Kicks N Licks, and their swoon-worthy new remix of Hopium’s elusive, “Dreamers”. Filled with heavenly (yet powerful) piano progressions, angelically reverberated vocals, enticing builds, and melodic drops of pure beauty, Kicks N Licks open our ears and our eyes in a much more inspiring way today. Le Youth
R E A L (Bixel Boys Remix)

LA’s finest Bixel Boys are no strangers to experimenting with new sounds suitable to their tracks. Remixing Le Youth‘s “Real”, the producer duo spices up an already epic tune by giving it the disco treatment. The track has a rather mellow buildup mixed together with piano cadences, showcasing the softer side of their caliber. The beat drop is what defines the track, consisting of a hardhitting bass that’s incorporated into a series of bold synth. All of these things give the track a disco vibe that resembles the sound of Anna Lunoe, and you just could not help but dance your pants off.

Bixel Boys are definitely coming up as the frontrunner of this new wave of dance music. The power of #FREELIFE is as real as it gets. Stay tuned for more dope material coming your way!

[House] Gold Fields – Hold Me (Pat Lok Remix)

Gold Fields
Hold Me (Pat Lok Remix)

Last week we featured standout house and disco manufacturer Pat Lok and his latest original record “All In My Head”; while this fine Hump Day finds the Vancouver native back in the remix game with a lively take on Gold Fields’ “Hold Me”. Pat Lok sprinkles liberal doses of both house and disco into his shuffling take on “Hold Me”, slowly establishing a fluid dance cadence on the back of a percussion-centric melody before dropping into an elastic club bassline. And while this writer may be a bit overzealous when it comes to dance music consumption, we quite honestly feel Lok’s injection of buoyant rhythm takes Gold Fields’ original vocal track just a bit further.  As Pat prepares the official release of the aforementioned “Hold Me” and its backing EP, we’ve been happily consuming this one on loop to shake away the cold. Raindrops Feat. Kerli (Original Mix)

Behind tastefully deep remixes for Melanie Martinez, Indiana, 50 Cent and loads more, L.A.’s SNBRN has made quite the stamp here at TMN on his steady push to the apex of rising house producers. SNBRN’s latest original record, “Raindrops”, which features syrupy sweet vocals from Kerli; sees the California native dance guru making a warranted debut on the almighty Ultra Records. Kerli’s alluring refrain coats SNBRN’s fetching, and sunny, Cali-appropriate synth hook with just the right balance of effeminate and bouncy. About the collaboration, SNBRN told us: “6 months ago I met Kerli at a small studio in Venice Beach, California. We shared our stories, really got to know each other and came up with a concept that would evolve into the song you hear today. We wanted to create a song that would be powerful and moving yet also something you could really groove to. The lyrics really hit home for me and I’m so excited to finally share it with you guys. It was such an unbelievable experience to work with Kerli and create something so beautiful from nothing. The best things always take time; the wait was definitely worth it. I present to you Raindrops.” “Raindrops” is now available through Beatport and other online retailer, but for now, get your fix from our super fancy Ninja player above.
