[Electro-Pop] Goldroom ft. George Maple – Embrace (Alternate Version)

Goldroom
Embrace (feat George Maple)

It’s almost difficult to believe that we’ve been posting Josh Legg’s Goldroom project for just under half a decade now. From humble production beginnings authoring breezy disco remixes of his favorite artists for fun, to making audiences of 100,000+ swoon in collective adoration, to what has now become a full-fledged live act behind some of this generation’s most recognizable alt-anthems; Goldroom’s trajectory has been nothing short of major-motion-picture-esque. One of those anthems however, stood head and shoulder above the rest when it came to this writer’s personal touch: the emotive pop scorcher “Embrace”. Why would we be covering a tune that was released almost two years ago on an extended play of the same name though, you ask? Well that’s simple. In a new series of tunes through Snapchat and behind a new EP It’s Like You Never Went Away (our favorite line from “Embrace” by the by), the tune has been finally unveiled in its truest form; with rangey female warbler George Maple on lead vocals. To elaborate, Legg stated: “George Maple and I actually wrote ‘Embrace’ together, so having this come full circle, and to have her singing on the song, feels like a dream. The song Embrace is all about re-connection, and so having George back in my studio again, singing the song, felt like it was meant to be”.

There’s certainly not much more to be said than that. Stream Goldroom’s entire new EP on Spotify here, or purchase through iTunes here, and check out Goldroom’s latest run of tour dates below. For now, let’s bask in the glow that is the purest form of Goldroom’s “Embrace”.

[New Wave] Mirror Talk – Some Boys

Mirror Talk
Some Boys

We don’t know about you ninjas, but once that clock hits 5 pm on a Friday, we feel like we’re king of the world…at least until the weekend ends. There’s almost nothing better in the world than heading home on a Friday, with no more work to worry about, while listening to some great music.

If there was a song that perfectly described the feeling above, it would be Mirror Talk‘s new original, “Some Boys.” The track teleports you straight back into the 80s – boombox, mixtape, denim jacket and all – making you feel like you’re in The Breakfast Club throwing your fist in the air. “Some Boys” is the second release off of their forthcoming 1997 EP, and on the track, the LA-based quartet stays true to their synth-heavy, ballad-esque style. Frontman Court Alexander’s soulful croons shine through the powerful synth ballad and stunning melodic hook. 1997 is slated to be released on May 19th via Yellow Year Records, so be sure to check out Mirror Talk’s upcoming EP and check out “Some Boys” above!

[Indie] Max and the Moon – Actor

Max and the Moon
Actor

The new pop-centric clapalong from California’s Max and the Moon has many components. It’s one part soul-searching, one part sarcasm. It’s a lyrical dash of reality with a jaded outlook. It’s a pleasant struggle between forward-facing vocals and relentless guitar undertones. It’s multiple vocal effects layered over precise and unassuming percussion elements. Mostly, it’s just fun.

MatM are in a great position for endless bloglove/radio play. Word on the street is that they have an EP slated for a June release. On that note, how fun would it be if these guys went on tour with Prides?

[Pop] Trudy- All My Love

TRUDY
All My Love

Leeds’ most romantic outfit Trudy is running with their new single ‘All My Love.’ Full of hopeless lyrics written by the boys whist crying, Producer Tarek Musa of Spring King joined these bunch drunks in molding their enchanting product. Vocalist Oliver Taylor skates across his glassy guitars as we sway back and forth to the beat. The throwback vibe feels so refreshing. A cover of the Beach Boys single Help Me Rhonda is their only other release (video is a must-watch) to date. This record will stir the pot for a while, but we’re expecting more to eat soon. For all news, offers, and first calls be sure to join their Mailing List.

[Pop] Bearson ft. Mark Johns – Imposter

BEARSON
Imposter (feat. Mark Johns)

We’ve found your next favorite dynamic duo in the game. Norwegian producer Bearson teamed up with singer Mark Johns for this much anticipated original track titled “Imposter”, which is set to become a summer jam for fans across the globe. Bearson cleverly fuses melodic synths and pop elements, creating a catchy and feel-good track. Mark Johns’ raspy voice takes the tune to a whole ‘nother level by adding character and emotions to it.

Bearson and Mark Johns are a great match for what’s next to come for Next Wave Records. Grab your popcorn, because they’re set to take over the electronic dance scene in no time.

[Indie/Synth-Pop] Roosevelt – Night Moves

Roosevelt
Night Moves

Roosevelt has long felt like an act waiting for that one crossover hit before spilling over into mainstream consciousness. While the Cologne based Greco-Roman Records mainstay hasn’t unveiled a significant amount of production since 2013’s excellent Elliot EP, save for some choice remixes and covers, we’ve been waiting for any sort of indication as to when we’ll be afforded the fortuitous opportunity of another Roosevelt record for well… a few years now. And so, as Greco-Roman’s Soundcloud rather unexpectedly dropped the first original single from Roosevelt since last year, “Night Moves”, we took notice like a perked up prairie dog peering out of its hole. All of Roosevelt’s sonic elements on which we’ve grown to love are still there; the warm and suffuse melodies, the soothing psychedelia and the streamlined pop structures, but this time around they’ve wrapped themselves much more closely than ever to the realm of dance music. Carefully layed out acid synth -which leans into Phuture’s 1987 vision more than his tastemaking contemporaries might stray towards- worms its way throughout Roosevelt’s thick sea of pop mutations, while a steady four-four kick never relinquishes its hold on the entire track. We could go on for hours about the finely tuned single that is “Night Moves”, but we know you all came here to listen over anything else. Indulge yourself above.
