[Event Preview/Denver Giveaway] The Golden Pony – 3/26 – Spill Lounge

Hozier
Take Me To Church (The Golden Pony Remix)

It’s no secret around here at TMN, that we have more than a musical soft-spot for BangOn!NYC founders, dual afro-wielders, and insanely talented underground dance producers The Golden Pony. From the first time we featured their unproven yet incredibly refined remixing abilities all the way back in early 2013, through their “Golden Classics” series, to their foray into the completely original side of production, and finally their latest remix, for Hozier’s smash “Take Me to Church (listen above); we’ve not yet seen the genre blurring pair miss so much as a step within their beefy and constantly expanding catalog. So justly, it was only a matter of time before The Golden Pony stepped away from their throne of dane-party curation and took their DJ set on the road. Tomorrow, the indie-disco meets house sensibility that they’ve so readily claimed on the interwebs will touch down in Denver at Spill Lounge for our Mile-High faithful to absorb as well, and there was no way we couldn’t get our Ninja companions in on the action. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Granny Milk Events to give away a pair of free tickets to the show and entering is beyond simple. Just “like” The Music Ninja Facebook page here, and enter your e-mail in the widget below. We’ll be notifying our winners via e-mail tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. Eastern/ 2:00 p.m. Pacific Standard time, so be on the lookout!

There are a few rules, of course:
– The event is only for attendees 21 +
– You are responsible for your own transportation.
– You must bring a valid form of ID to pick up your tickets at the Spill Lounge entrance.
– You must find a TMN representative and let them buy you a shot.

[Synth-Pop] Noonie Bao – I’m In Love

nooniebao
I'm In Love

Ahh! Gotta love new music Tuesdays! Like clockwork, the second day of the week seems to always be set up to find great new material. Coming to us on this fine Tuesday, Noonie Bao has come out of hiding for a new original. You may recognize her angelic voice from Avicii and Nicky Romero’s internationally successful track “I Could Be The One.” Following that massive success, the singer/songwriter debuted her first album in 2012 landing her a Grammy nomination.

Noonie Bao virtually disappeared after the nomination and took a new direction behind the scenes co-writing and lending vocals for the likes of Alesso, Carly Rae Jepsen, Clean Bandit and Charli XCX. After flying under the radar for some time now, her highly anticipated return is marked by her new single “I’m In Love.“ Unlike anything else we’ve heard from her, the original is filled with lush guitar plucks, quirky instrumentals, and anunderlying electronic beat. Pairing beautifully with her vocals, the up-beat tune sits comfortably in the genre of indie-pop, and will be the track to get you to Friday.

Stream “I’m In Love” above, and buy it tomorrow when it’s fully released.

Get It Up (STRAIGHT A Remix)

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE! We figured we’d started off this week of SXSW with a spectacular premiere courtesy of Straight A and Pr0files. The original “Get It Up” holds true to an almost 80’s sound that is glossed over with a modern twist, but Straight A reshapes the track in his own unique way. By pumping up the tempo and supplementing the vocals with sparkling new synths and atmosphere, Straight A solidified an absurdly catchy and fresh rendition that is an essential introduction to the springtime ahead. Bust out your sunglasses and roll your windows down, because this is a jam that requires sun and fresh air for an overall great time. Enjoy below!

[Pop] CAPPA – Hush

CAPPA
Hush

It’s nice to see there been a shift in pop music as of late. It may not be easy to spot, but artists like CAPPA and Phoebe Ryan truly are redefining what the genre is all about. Cappa had this to say about her new single “Hush”:

I want people to feel like they can escape everyday life,” CAPPA says. “I think that’s what we’re all looking for when we’re listening to music, and I hope that listeners can do that with mine.

She certainly succeeded on her goal by gracing the ethereal instrumental with her bright voice and undeniable star quality. This “transformative pop” movement needs to continue and push its way to the forefront, and we’re looking to artists like CAPPA to supply the stellar material and foundation for this to happen.

October Glow – Cellar Door [TMN PREMIERE]

October Glow
Cellar Door

Sunday is a bittersweet day. On one hand, it’s developed a notariety for being the a day of rest, allowing you to slowly wind down before another week in the rat race. On the other hand, it is the last day of the weekend, presenting itself as a daunting reminder that real life kicks back into gear before you know it.

Regardless of whether you’re a “glass half full,” or “glass half empty” person, one thing should be a constant. Music plays a huge role in shaping our lazy day at home, and October Glow is adding to that with their debut song, “Cellar Door.”

Accentuating the laid-back vibes of this day properly, this Essex-based producer/vocalist brings the tune in with a South East Asian riff. Calling on associations of Apparat, Absofacto, and Tom Vek, “Cellar Door” crackles with anti-pop radiance. The understated vocals effortlessly blend with the instrumentals, leaving us yearning for more. Unfortunately, this is all we have for now. You’ll just have to exert some patience as we wait for more.

“Cellar Door” is now available to download via Sweet Release Records. Head over there, pick it up, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
