Elonious X Alexa Lusader X The Vizzion – BLVRD [TMN Premiere]

Elonious X Alexa Lusader X The Vizzion
BLVRD

If you enjoyed Boom Boom Snare Pt. I, then Boom Boom Snare Pt. II is going to be a godsend. That’s right, Elonious is back with another EP that is even better than the last, which is saying a lot. The EP is due out very soon, but us here at The Music Ninja had the privilege of getting our hands on “BLVRD” for your to listen to early in this premiere.

“BLVRD” isn’t an Elonious exclusive, rather, it’s a collaboration with the artists Alexa Lusader and The Vizzion. What we love about this song is that it’s not really like anything else. The smooth mixture of sounds makes for a captivating listen that seduces you from start to finish. The obvious ingredients to the song are R&B and future, but even that doesn’t blanket the range that this single has. It’s dynamic, fresh and so much more. Each artist shines in their own way, making this a special song. “BLVRD” is due out on Boom Boom Snare Pt. II, but an early listen wasn’t enough, so Elonious is dishing this one out for free.

On June 22nd, XXL magazine will be issuing a Freshman edition that is going to highlight some up and coming talent. One of those emcees that will be featured is Mix Fox. We have the pleasure of hosting Mix Fox’s newest project, an official music video for his single “How We Roll,” as a premiere in the dojo.

“How We Roll” has been released by Soundlink Records and is currently available on iTunes. With the song we get a shaded, minimalist beat whose vibe sets the tone for a low-key party track. Nothing is over-the-top with this tasteful instrumental, and Mix Fox’s rhymes are fast and ferocious. With the music video, instead of getting a first-person point of view, we follow the front of Mix Fox as he performs the song throughout a house party. It’s an interesting flip that makes for a cool visual counterpart. There’s also a guy in a banana costume following the rapper around with a boombox, so you know it’s good. Check it out below, and get ready for more work soon from Mix Fox.

Vicetone – Bright Side Ft. Cosmos & Creature (Boehm Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Boehm of Bucharest has something special coming out soon. The Romanian producer was tapped for an official remix for Vicetone’s “Bright Side” that features Cosmos & Creature. Spinnin Records is backing this remix, as they hosted the original, but the ninjas come in to premiere the song to you.

“Bright Side” was a soft house record that focused more on vibes than hype. With Boehm’s remix, we still get a similar tone as the original had, but the energy jumps up a few notches. It’s a club friendly remix that has everything you want and more. Boehm pairs a solid bassline with subtle vocal chops for a coupling that is minimal, but extremely powerful at the same time. For fans of the strings that were the main element of the original, don’t worry, Boehm kept those in there in the introduction to pay a little homage. Sometimes these big remixes fall a bit flat, but this one certainly does not. Boehm did more than justice to Vicetone with his edit that you are hearing first here!

Crash Landing

Denver’s ill-esha has started to unveil her Wordless EP, with the second single, “Crash Landing,” being available for a first listen through this Music Ninja Premiere. Her take on future is unique and off-the-wall in the best way possible. She has a sort of trippy, ethereal vibe that penetrates her productions, which is just what we get with “Crash Landing.”

With the second single off Wordless, ill-esha offers up a more atmospheric tune than the title track. The style fits just in line with her Hebinomichi crew, who are some of the best underground producers in the game. ill-esha’s holding her own and even surpassing a lot of the future bass fellas that are trying to establish themselves in the genre. “Crash Landing” is an example of her sound that is anything but watered down, as well as an example of her acoustic sensibilities. She’s more than just a producer, and you’ll get a sense of that with this song. Stream it here first, and get yourself ready for the full Wordless EP to come out in the near future.

Humboldt – From Above [TMN MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE]

From Above

Grief. Regret. Dispair. Obsession. It’s safe to say that we’ve all experienced the wave of emotions that comes with a break-up. It’s one of the most powerful events we go through as human beings, bringing uncontrollable surges, followed up devastating lulls for weeks, months, and sometimes even years.

Humboldt, a Berlin-based songwriter, DJ, has certainly has tugged on our heartstrings today, showcasing a beautifully painful scene between two lovers. Interestingly enough, though, it’s gorgeously juxtaposed with his calming, rhythmic, and ethereal track “From Above.” The counter-balance between the powerful message, both through the visuals and lyrics, and his calculated arrangement of airy percussion, alluring piano melody, and engaging vocal hums create quite the experience, start-to-finish.

This up and coming artist gained a strong following through stellar remixes of both Alt-J and Still Parade, but now has his sites set on an original body of work, Mamihlapinatapai. Look for its release on Ove Records, Humboldt’s very own imprint, later this spring.

[TMN Premiere] PACES – Work Me Out (Moonbase Commander Remix)

Paces
Work Me Out [ft. Rye Rye] (Moonbase Commander Remix)

Sydney based, genre-skirting producer Moonbase Commander seemingly bubbled up out of the ether with a clearly defined and polished sound on his collab with Cakes Da Killa for their 2015 single “Serve it Up”, which received quite the reputable slate of critical support when it first made the rounds. In the time since, the Australian artist’s been continuously honing that sound, with the recent release of the Southpaw EP on October Records, which only seemed to elevate the collective appetites of his listeners. So, when the Commander’s latest tune floated our way in the form of a remix for fellow TMN regulars PACES and their Rye Rye featuring single “Work Me Out”, we were like giddy cheerleaders before a pep rally.

On his latest record, Moonbase Commander trots out a hypnotically knocking kick-drum, fueled by alchemistic pads, before delving into a heap of two-step drum patterning which holds up Rye Rye’s flitty cypher as if it were resting on a bed of anthracite storm clouds. MBC’s bass-first soundscape toys with stadium-trap sized bass swells, gigantic drums and loopy synths; all pulled off with the confident swagger of an underground beatsmith and grace of an established veteran. Quite appetizing stuff really. Moonbase Commander’s remix comes as part of etcetc music‘s official remix package which is out this Friday (preorder on iTunes here). Just try not to get your lean on too hard and throw out your back to this one, and enjoy Moonbase Commander’s “Work Me Out” remix before anyone else above.
