Night Lurkers – Make it Hot ft. GDP, Fame School Star City, Tigga Calore, Kevin Hussein [TMN Premiere]

NightLurkers
MAKE IT HOT FT. GDP, FAME SCHOOL STAR CITY, TIGGA CALORE, AND KEVIN HUSSEIN

MopTop‘s hip-hop side project, Night Lurkers, is dishing out their new single through a Music Ninja premiere. We’re happy to present to you “Make It Hott” this Friday evening, as it is the perfect track to get the weekend started with. Although this is under their hip-hop project, with features from artists GDP, Fame School Star City, Tigga Calore and Kevin Hussein, this single sports a rather dancy, electronic instrumental. A synth heavy breakbeat background is where these emcees spit their heat. With a more minimal composition, MopTop were able to focus in for some well-produced percussion that is both thick and crisp. It’s a smashing crossover record that continues the fusion between dance and rap in epic fashion. As we see music transition in the future, you’re to be sure to hear more jams like this, however, “Make It Hott” sets the bar high. Make sure to download this hit for free before you check out some other new tunes on the website!

CAFUNÉ – Love Songs For Other People [TMN Premiere]

Pop music is a fickle thing. As we know, it veers toward being mostly accessible, but luckily we still have the perimeter acts that shed typical traits while still, interestingly enough, operating within certain structural norms. Here is where CAFUNÉ reigns supreme. This duo, comprised of Noyu and Sedona, has revamped the likes of Porter Robinson, Daft Punk, and, most recently, Drake in their pristine and practiced style of alternative pop that has carried over into a noteworthy debut EP, Love Songs For Other People. We are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to premiere this project for you, so let’s go ahead and dive in!

Lay Low & Lay Low (Reprise) – The double dose of the “Lay Low” tunes are the bookends of the EP, but they work together with a purpose. As the intro synths trickle in, they crescendo into an electrifying concentration of their signature sound tinged with video game synths and confident lyrics delivered by Sedona, the duo’s primary vocalist. The tone is instantly cheery and encouraging as the intro builds, but the reprise shifts back down to a calmer demeanor for a short moment before one last buoyant chorus bids us farewell.

Warm Body – This single, previously premiered by Smoothie Tunes, is simply fun. You can’t beat the unbridled optimism and catchiness of a tune like “Warm Body,” and it absolutely stands out as a shining moment in Love Songs For Other People. Having the privilege of good pop music doesn’t come around every day, and a song like this is a prime example of what the genre as a whole can accomplish.

Fall Asleep Slow – “Fall Asleep Slow” is another track that preceded the EP release, and its guitar-driven focus paves the way for distorted and bit crushed vocals that coalesce into a clear-cut creation dealing with the need for an escape. Considering all of the recent events that have transpired, we certainly could use one at some point. So far, this EP provides exactly that.

Runaways – If the previous song was the call for a new start, “Runaways” is the action itself. Aptly named, this song hearkens back to “Lay Low” with playful and chippy synths that flutter around the buzzing chorus and dance around the lyrics that detail a journey of pushing past a former love. Have we all been there? Absolutely. We just really enjoy the method that these two take in expressing this common sentiment.

CAFUNÉ is a band that exudes a deserving amount of confidence and aptitude on a remarkable debut. Love Songs For Other People was created with thousands of miles between the duo for some time, but their separate experiences molded together to forge something spectacular and infectious that proves no boundaries or limitations will deter them. It’s a project that gives you hope. It brightens your day the instant you scroll past it in your feed and hit play. It’s a combination of alternative and pop music that makes you smile. Hold on to that feeling and you’ll enjoy every second of CAFUNÉ’s prominent debut.

Taylor Thomas – Heartbreaker ft. Lauren Cole [TMN Premiere]

Taylor Thomas
Heartbreaker ft. Lauren Cole

There’s a new act on the scene that we have the pleasure of introducing to you in this Music Ninja Premiere. Taylor Thomas of Dallas is taking his first step with his project, and it’s a big one. His single “Heartbreaker” is a hybrid bass production that is complete with vocals from Laruen Cole. You can’t really ask for a better first song from an artist. “Heartbreaker” shows not only the technical aptitude of a seasoned producer, but also the creative ability of someone who’s looking to forge their own space in the industry and not simply feed off a sub-par popularized sound. From beginning to end, Taylor’s composition on this track is absolutely stunning, going from soft piano all the way up to hard-pressed bass aggression. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we do, and stay up on this dude, as he’s surely got more fire in the chambers. Before you leave, don’t forget to grab the limited time free download!

[Deep-House] Thousand Fingers – Take Me Down (Loulou Players Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Thousand Fingers
Take Me Down (LouLou Players Remix)

From the moment  Jérôme Denis -or Loulou Players as we’ve come to know him as both an artist and label boss-  unleashes that pulsating, subterranean kick-drum,  which came careening through our monitors with the amount of force of a raging waterfall, we knew we were in for a proper underground house romper. Taking the stems from Thousand Fingers, (whom you most likely have heard via his other project as one-half of the almighty Paradisko) and his debut single “Down”, Denis has added another brilliant official remix to a burly and pristine dance catalog. Both Loulou Players and Loulou Records‘ entire stable have for years displayed a fondness for the rough-n-tumble analog bass sounds associated with the most thumping  tech-, deep- and G-House, and that aural aesthetic shines through brightly on his revamping of “Down”. Loulou Players rides a distinct line between dark atmospherics and accessible, contagious bounce; tactfully pinning a cathartic bassline to Thousand Fingers’ wonderfully malleable stems which both keeps the original’s soul intact while reshaping it into an underground monster. And who can resist that pitched down, and desolately hypnotic vocal loop? Not us. We’ve been hearing Thousand Fingers’ original record and this thumping remix in the clubs for months, and it was high time we got to bestow it upon our lovely readers.

Thousand Fingers’ debut EP Down is set to release on December 14th via High Above the Ground, which includes the aforementioned Loulou Players remix, Thousand Fingers’ original and another revision via Mexican techno bender Mijo. For now however, you can stream Loulou Players’ remix in the form of a ‘TMN Premiere’ before anyone else.

[Deep-House] Alcala – What I Want [TMN Premiere]

Alcala
What I Want

DJ turned producer Daniel Alcala, who’s become much more recognizable simply as Alcala, first started gaining notoriety over a decade ago cutting his teeth as quite the crafty decksmith, while opening for the likes of Fake Blood, Matt Darey, Viceroy and Yolanda Be Cool. However, Alcala’s star didn’t truly start to shine until a steady output of remixes for artists like Crystal Castles, Givers, Royksopp, Kavinsky, Dragonette, Nightriders and M83 began worming their way through a number of dance industry corners, eventually finding their way to the top of multiple online charts in the process. Today, we’ve got our hands, or rather ears on Alcala’s latest original, “What I Want”, and as the snow and gloom in this writer’s home city of Denver settles in, it’s proving as the perfect atmospheric pick-me-up. “What I Want” rides the contemporary house backbone of a thick, syrupy bassline, shuffling hi-hats, rising pads and deft vocal chops for its first half, but during an excellently executed break we’re hit with the kind of classic house piano that would make Marshall Jefferson crack a smile,  bringing the entire track together in a clean, cohesive and utterly groovy design.

While Alcala’s remixes are the tunes nabbing the rising artist millions of YouTube views, we’re quite in tune with his latest body of work for which our latest TMN Premiere take its name, the What I Want EP which is getting set for a November 20 release. But, until the full extended-play is unveiled stream its title track “What I Want” before anyone else above.
