There’s no doubt that we’ve probably seen more Disclosure remixes than we know what to do with. They’re populating faster than a colony of rabbits, but fortunately for us, today’s find stands out far above the rest. Not only do we get a musically re-interpreted visualization of the UK duo’s monster hit, but we’re also getting a cover as well.
Taking a crack at re-working “Latch,” TEEMID, the Bordeaux-based DJ Producer, has fused in his affinity for the deeper and techier side of house music. Replacing the thumping, pronounced bassline and driving kicks with a smooth and atmospheric soundscape, he gives this remix a laid-back vibe that’s truly infectious.
While Sam Smith’s vocals were always something to marvel at, we actually applaud TEEMID for not pitching them down to match the tempo and vibe, instead bringing on a more suitable vocalist to perform a cover. Housed within the soft, echoing synths, Canadian vocalist Daniela Andrade shines. Her silky, wispy cover not only does justice in comparison to the original, but it also gives “Latch” an entirely new persona, and one we won’t quickly forget.
