Out Of Yourself (Roosevelt Remix)
Let’s cut to the chase. Remixes are a music blogger’s dream. They allow simultaneous coverage of multiple artists, provide public exposure to the remixer or remixee that they may not have been privy to, and they create an easy avenue to push out some extra sentences in an article. But often times, they can be the miscalculated product of a major label forcing separate entities to strenuously fuse conflicting sounds just to release out into the blogosphere. So, after the long winded introduction, it’s absolutely safe to say that Cologne’s most noted electronic tastemaker Roosevelt along with his sterling remix of Norwegian upstart Truls debut track “Out of Yourself”, which was released this morning, falls nowhere near those manufactured misfires. “Out Of Yourself” is the lead track from Truls’ debut solo album which is due for release later this year via Universal Music, and Roosevelt has shaped the tune into the perfect fit for his indie electronic sound. His cascade of electronic pads, claps and snaps beautifully envelop the original, while inducing a healthy dose of Spring time smiles. Just try not to crack one while rinsing this one, we dare you. After last year’s incredible Elliot EP and a gorgeous leaked cover of John Martyn’s classic “Small Hours”, it’s safe to say that each time a new Roosevelt tune is unearthed, we’d like to be somewhere near the drop zone, so here we are again with another great Roosevelt remix. Stream the remix above, and let your psyche drift into space a little early today.
