Ninjas, summer has officially arrived three months ahead of schedule this year, thanks to France’s very own, Watermat, and fellow Spinnin’ Records labelmate, TAI.
Last summer, the Frenchman released his latest single, “Bullit,” and the track catapulted the talented producer into superstardom, as it charted in the Top 10 in three countries. The Germany-based producer, TAI, gained recognition as a hip-hop producer, in addition to being named Germany’s most successful hip-hop producer in 2007, he had the most record sales in Germany and three top 10 albums to his name before diving head first into the world of electronic music. Together, the two immensely talented musicians have delivered their collaboration, “Frequency,” just in time to kick off festival season.
While a collaboration between a deep house sensation and bass producer may seem unorthodox, Watermat’s diverse array of sun-soaked instruments provides the perfect backdrop for TAI to integrate his unique bass inflections. The track opens with a piano-driven melody before diving into a hypnotic vocal loop that is further accented by Watermat’s signature horn synths and steady bass line.
