Return Of The Mack (SNBRN Remix)
Some artists seem to waltz into your life at exactly the correct time, armed with the exact stockpile of tunes to draw its listener in from the first exposure, all the way through their entire library of releases. While this observation may sound too good to be true to some, it has absolutely been the modus operandi of L.A. house purveyor SNBRN, who returns to TMN with yet another irresistible twist on a classic. Already credited with clubby underground alterations of Ace of Base and 50 Cent, SNBRN has reshaped Mark Morrison’s genre staple “Return of The Mack” and brought it directly into deep-house waters. While certainly not a newbie to the deeper sound kits, SNBRN’s bassline is as chunky as ever, coalescing superbly with Mark Morrison’s soulful R&B vocal track which coats the tune with a sublime ratio of sexy and grimy. SNBRN’s clear influence from classic house doesn’t go unfiltered either as he’s painted his high end with a garage leaning hi-hat shuffle to go along with a classic piano line à la Marshal Jefferson circa 1986 (which if you know your history, is a pretty damn good thing to be reminded of in dance music). It seems SNBRN has appealed to every ounce of our proper house brain brilliantly this time around; and had this to say about his latest remix: “So, I’m back up in the game…with a brand new remix of one of my all time favorite songs. There hadn’t been a remix in years and decided to give this thee old SNBRN touch. With tons of live instruments and a nice warm bassline this track is sure to keep you dancing from the pool to the club all summer long. You can bet that’s exactly what we’ll be doing over the next few months.
