No One Ft. Thelma Plum
There’s no secret here at TMN that this writer has been a little more than slightly enamored with Sydney’s notoriously masked dance dignitary Golden Features. Most recently landing on our pages with “Baxter”, Golden Features returns with the Thelma Plum led gritty deep-house cut “No One”. “No One” plays the part of Golden Features’ most accessible crossover single yet, with a lighter piano driven base basked in Plum’s elegantly soft vocals, however that’s not to say the grimy muscle with which we’ve come to crave isn’t there. Golden Features’ instrumentation pumps more than enough Berghain grit, classic Detroit techno spirit, London House sensibilities and Australian refinement to satisfy both those who’ve been fans since a self-titled EP surfaced just over a year ago, to those only now coming into contact with the Australian dynamo. In regards to this latest tune Golden Features remarked: “After finishing everything else on the EP, I spent a month trying to write something in a radio format and lost my mind trying. I couldn’t bear working like that anymore so I abandoned it and started something new with no particular goal in mind other than having it sound good. The instrumental to No One is the end result. A few days later somebody sent me Thelma’s soundcloud link and it just made sense…”
“No One” will be available as part of an impending EP, XXIV, due out June 19 with an accompanying headline tour slated to kick off June 27th. Check out Golden Features’ forthcoming tour dates below, and stream “No One” above.
