Sometimes you see the title of a song and you know you just have to give it a listen, because you have no idea what to expect. And sometimes, if you’re really really lucky, that song ends up being top notch. And such is the case with “Shrimps”, a new tune from Germany’s Homeboi, who is 20 year old Marcin Sleziona, and the proprietor of this track. So what’s so great about it? Even though it’s got beats you can hardly even keep up with, it’s still totally warm and lush, thanks, no doubt, to the piano chords underlying most of the beats and filling up all the empty space. In the faintest way ever, it reminds me a bit of Volta Cab’s “Clarissa”. Not really because the two tracks sound the same, but moreso because of the way they both make me feel, and the way they both make me think “Damn, this song is pretty awesome, and I can’t wait to see what this youngster is going to come up with next.” Lucky for us, Homeboi has promised to let us know when he’s got something new in the works, so hopefully we’ll all be the first to find out.
