We haven’t heard much from Emay since last year’s instrumental project, Into It. Well, it finally looks like the Montreal native is ready to take command of the mic again, letting go of a brand new demo called, “Wudhu (Cleanliness).” We’ve always been fans of the emcee’s stream of consciousness flow, and his production is still on a whole different level, as he blends together a distorted, harmonious sample with a simple, pounding drum pattern to produce a vivid, awe inspiring instrumental.
The song’s title makes reference to the process of cleansing oneself that Muslims practice before every prayer. Could that signal that Emay is ready to make a fresh start? Let’s hope so, because we’ve waited way too long to hear a new project from the talented young wordsmith.
