A year has now passed since Hoodie Allen released his highly-acclaimed mixtape Pep Rally, combining hip/hop with electronica all the while sampling some of the best indie tracks of that year. Pep Rally showed the world Allen’s maturity over his debut mixtape Making Waves back in 2009, and with every release his flow, confidence and production have increased tenfold. Leap Year, set to be released July 26th, still adheres to the same feel-good vibe Hoodie is known for yet unlike his previous releases, he new mixtape is much more introspective, letting people into who he is and hes view on the environment around him.
“The Chase Is On”, Hoodie Allen’s new single released today accompanied by a music video featuring himself courting the very lovely Sofia Black D’Elia (MTV’s Skins), is about the excitement of meeting that person for the first time and the mysteries that come with it.
