The last time we talked about the Ontario based Junior Boys was just before the release of their album Begone Dull Care. Despite receiving a lukewarm reception from most publications, I thought it was a decently well rounded album, and certainly worthy of a follow up. Enter It’s All True, the indie-electronic duo’s fourth studio album, and the home of this tremendous gem “ep.”
Personally, I have always compared the band/duo to LCD Soundsystem, but this track evokes something more. The synthesizer’s sound like they come straight out of Paul McCartney’s legendary “Wonderful Christmastime” which gives a cool sort of nostalgic feel to the whole track. The vocals are typical of Junior Boys, but the lyrics seem somehow sweeter than usual, and much more poignant. The track’s ability to evoke nostalgia is strong, and certainly enough to warrant a few listens, if only to walk down memory lane.
