RAC (Remix Artist Collective) is André Allen Anjos’s project that is all about exploring the subtle and hidden melodies in indie-pop songs and exposing it to the world. With software becoming easily pirate-able and hardware fairly inexpensive, there has been an oversaturation of remixes as just about anyone can create one. However, the genius in what Anjos can accomplish lies in his attention to the minor harmonic details that are often overlooked. He tells Stereogum, “I strive to create remixes for music lovers who want to hear the song re-invented, not just re-interpreted and chopped up. I hope people experience the original songs in a different way that not only complements the original, but takes them somewhere else.” The music world could sure use more dj/producers like RAC who take the time to study what makes a song so great and enhance them without sacrificing its originality. He is a Hero for all those soft melodic notes who are often overpowered by louder tracks of the song. For this, RAC, my friend, I salute you!
