Lucki Eck$ first grabbed our attention a couple years back with his debut mixtape, Alternative Trap, a supremely woozy, introspective take on the trap music coming out of his hometown of Chicago. Since then, he’s continued to delve deeper into that sound releasing an impressive follow-up in Body High positioning himself for big things this year. On his latest single, Eck$’s flow actually diverges a bit from his usual drowsy charm as he employs an infectious rolling delivery to match a jazzy instrumental provided by Infamous Legends. “Cholos” still holds the core facets of Lucki’s Xanax-inspired ethos but does so in a way that feels slightly more energetic with great results.
