Ever since Drake found commercial, critical, and industry success off his mixtape So Far Gone, artists have made the production and content of the mixtape just as important as the album release. Following suit, DMV rapper Wale‘s mixtapes have become a seasonal gift that most fans wait for with anticipation. In some cases, the mixtape is even better than the future-LP. Considering that earlier in his career Wale’s mixtapes dropped single after single (“Nike Boots”, “Chillin”, and “Guilty Pleasure”), there is no surprise that the MMG emcee would capitalize on this recent phenom.
After releasing his latest mixtape Forlarin, Wale repackages and pushes forth the smooth “Bad” as he new single. The Kelson and Tiara Thomas production makes this tune a bed-room friendly joint. Complete with Thomas’ sultry vocals on the hook, acoustic guitar, squeaking beat, and Wale’s smooth lyrics, this track about just searching for the just the physical connection a catchy single.
