Brobot Records of New York City is all about the underground. However, that doesn’t mean they don’t push records from veterans like New Jersey’s Matthew Warren. The house veteran put out a double single through the imprint recently with an old-school sound that will have OG ravers going wild. Newer listeners can still jive with it as it is one groovy project.
Matthew Warren has been known for his house records for years, longer than most electronic dance music fans have been in the game. He’s been plugged by guys like Carl Cox, and there’s a reason for that: he’s an excellent musical artist. Just take the tracks “The Rough Life” and “Hear Me Out” that make up his Brobot project. Both share a deep style, but they each bring something a little different. “The Rough Life,” despite its name, is a bit more vibrant of a sound, with wonky piano chords and a bassline that make a near perfect pairing. With “Hear Me Out” we get a darker sound that’s more chill than groovy, although it still has plenty of groove. Check out both tracks and head to your digital store of choice to grab the EP.
